Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Akula 310 has been spotted testing near the TVS manufacturing facility in Hosur
The Akula 310 has been spotted testing on public roads quite a few times now. The motorcycle was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 as a racing bike concept. It is the first fully faired bike from TVS Motors. The new spy shots reveal the bike sporting a big vertical LCD instrumental cluster display.
TVS Akula is powered by a 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which produces 34PS at 9,500rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Though the production bike looks similar to the concept bike, there are a few visual changes made to the design. The Akula 310 shares the same underpinnings as the BMW G310 R and gets USD forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
The motorcycle will get a split seat and a split pattern headlamp -- both were missing on the race spec model. It might also get ABS as an option to match up with the current breed of bikes in its range. Once launched, the Akula 310 will lock horns with the Yamaha YZF R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the recently launched KTM RC 390.
