The BS-6 will come into effect very soon, and the automakers are supposed to equip their vehicles with BS-6 compliant engines before April 1, 2019. While there is still time for the deadline to arrive, many of the automakers have already started rolling updated versions of their vehicles with BS-6 compliant internal combustion engines. Newest leaks have revealed the specifications of the upcoming BS-6 compliant Hero Splendor iSmart.
Hero had already announced in June, earlier this year that the ICAT certification has been given to the Splendor iSmart, and the updated motorcycle will be adhering to the update emission norms, i.e., the BS-6 norms. And now, official RTO documents of the updated Hero Splendor iSmart have leaked revealing the motorcycle's revised specifications. Unlike before, the newest iteration of the Hero Splendor iSmart will be powered by a 113.2cc engine instead of the current 109.15cc unit. While the new engine boasts a larger cubic capacity than the outgoing powerhouse, the maximum power output has reduced by 0.4PS and come down to 9.1PS.
Other changes on the new Hero Splendor iSmart include a longer wheelbase that is 25mm longer than before. Also, the motorcycle is 33mm longer at 2048mm and 55mm taller at 1110mm than the BS-4 compliant model. The updated Splendor iSmart will continue to come in two different variants, drum and front-disc. With the RTO documents leaked, we expect Hero to introduce the revised and BS-6 compliant Splendor iSmart in India soon enough. Furthermore, the updated motorcycle should also carry a premium of around INR 7,000.
Hero is yet to comment on the arrival of the BS-6 compliant Splendor iSmart, but we believe that the good news should be coming out sooner than later. A launch during the ongoing festive season would have been a treat, right? Anyway, let's hold our horses and wait for the official launch.
