Royal Enfield has added an ABS variant to the Bullet 500 lineup. This new variant is priced at Rs. 1.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and thus commands a premium of Rs. 14,000 over the regular non-ABS model. The Bullet 500 ABS can now be booked on the company’s official website or any of the authorised dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs. 5,000. It is worth noting that Royal Enfield will continue to sell the non-ABS models till stocks last.
Addition of the ABS module to the Bullet 500 comes on the backdrop of the Government of India making it mandatory for all motorcycles with engines bigger than 125cc to come with ABS as standard from April 2019. The company has been gradually adding ABS to its models over the past few months. As of now, the Classic 350, Bullet 350, and Bullet 350 ES are the only bikes in the company’s portfolio to not come with an ABS variant.
Other than the ABS addition, the Bullet 350 has remained mechanically unchanged. It thus comes with a 499cc, single cylinder engine that puts out 27.5PS and 41.3Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox.
