Leading Japanese automobile manufacturer Suzuki is all set to launch the new Gixxer 250 motorcycle in India on May 20. However, it seems that the company may introduce the new Gixxer SF as well if the new image which has since appeared on the internet is to be believed.
The 2019 Gixxer SF would get some major design upgrades. It is likely to sport the same LED setup as the Gixxer 250. An all-round sharper styling like the Gixxer 250 is also on the cards. While the current version of the Gixxer SF has a standard handlebar, the upcoming model will have clip-on, lower-set handlebars. Other changes in the new bike comprise a split seat and a bit redesigned rear part. The double barrel exhaust system and the alloy wheels of the new Gixxer SF seem to be retained from the outgoing model.
The 2019 Gixxer SF will be powered by the same unit as in the current model. It will be hauled by a single-cylinder 155cc motor which produces 14.8PS maximum power and 14Nm peak torque. The air-cooled, BS-VI compliant motor is mated to a 5-speed transmission system. Suzuki may tweak the engine to output a bit more power. Braking duties will be handled by both-end disc brakes. Antilock braking system (ABS) will come as standard. The bike will be supported by a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock absorber. It’s the same setup seen in the current Gixxer SF model. The rear suspension may be more on the softer side than the current version.
While Suzuki is yet to confirm the price of the new Gixxer SF, the bike may command INR5,000 more than its outgoing version, courtesy the upgrades. The ex-showroom price of the motorcycle could be around INR1.06 lakh. The Gixxer SF, when launched, will compete with the Hero Xtreme 200S which has an ex-showroom price of INR98,500.
