The Suzuki Gixxer 250 is set to launch on May 20. And now, just days ahead of its India debut, specifications of the new bike from the leading Japanese manufacturer, have been leaked online. The details reveal much about the bike’s powertrain and underpinnings.
The Gixxer SF 250 retains the same looks like the Gixxer SF though the new two-wheeler seems to be more muscular and sportier than its younger sibling. The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 gets clip-on handlebars, a full fairing, and a sporty riding position. The petrol tank, which can hold up to 12 litres of fuel, appears sleeker with creases and cuts. The new Gixxer, like its current version, has a double-barrel exhaust channel finished in chrome.
The Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be hauled by a fuel-injected, 249cc motor which produces 26.5PS maximum power at 9,000rpm and 22.6Nm peak torque at 7,000rpm. The single-cylinder engine is mated to a 6-speed gear system. The bike produces more power than the Honda CBR250R and the Yamaha FZ25 that outputs 26.5PS and 20.9PS maximum power and 22.9Nm and 20Nm peak torque respectively. That aside, the Gixxer SF 250 is expected to be a bit quicker than the Honda CBR250R since it is 6kg lighter.
The new Gixxer SF 250 is supported by telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock absorber. Braking duties are handled by both-end disc brakes with dual-channel antilock braking system (ABS) coming as standard. The vehicle runs of 17-inch alloy wheels with 150/60-section and 110/70-section rear and front tyres respectively. The SF 250 sports a rather large fairing with an exposed engine case. The headlamp design is expected to be an LED unit and inspired by the Suzuki GSX-R1000. The new bike offers a 165mm ground clearance and has a seat height of 800mm.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is expected to command an ex-showroom piece of INR1.65-1.75 lakh.
