Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the 2019 Activa 125 scooter. It’s Honda’s first BS-VI compliant scooter in India. The upgraded Activa 125 is available in black, grey, red, brown, and white colour schemes. While the company has not disclosed the price of the two-wheeler, the vehicle is expected to command an ex-showroom price of INR65,000.
Honda has incorporated some minor changes in the design of the new Activa 125. The two-wheeler now sports restyled decals, a redesigned front end, and a new grab rail. It also has a new semi-digital instrument cluster which reveals information like average fuel consumption and real-time mileage. The new scooter has an external fuel cap for added convenience. The scooter features LED headlamps, a four-in-one lock with a seat opening switch, and a USB charging point. The Activa 125 has Honda’s Idle Stop System (ISS) which is similar to Hero’s Idle-Start-Stop-System (i3S). The ISS cuts off the scooter’s motor when the vehicle is kept idle for more than three seconds. The engine restarts when the brake lever is pressed and the rider twists the throttle.
The new Activa 125 is hauled by a fuel-injected 125cc motor which is retained from the two-wheeler’s outgoing version. The engine produces 8.6PS maximum power and 10.5Nm peak torque. The vehicle is supported by a rear monoshock absorber and a telescopic fork in the front. Its braking duties are handled by a 130mm drum unit at the back while the front has a 190mm disc brake. Honda is offering a six-year warranty on the 2019 Activa 125. This includes three years of standard warranty and a three-year optional scheme. The latter involves an additional payment.
The 2019 Activa 125, as and when it’s finally rolled out, will compete with the Hero Maestro Edge (INR58,500) and the TVS NTorq 125 (INR58,252) in its segment.
