Honda to launch new Activa 125 at AutoExpo 2014

It seems Honda does not want to loose out on its position of being the leader in the automatic scooter segment. According to sources Honda is all geared up to launch its new powerful version of Honda Activa by the name of Activa 125 at the upcoming 2014 AutoExpo. Already there were rumours going on about Honda to launch a new scooter. Honda will unveil this scooter at the AutoExpo along with a variety of Honda motorcycles.

Currently Honda Activa which is powered by a 109 cc engine is the market leader in the automatic scooter segment. But with the entry of other manufacturers like Yamaha, TVS, Mahindra and PiaggioVespa the games is changing now. Hence for Honda to maintain its top position in the scooter segment its has become very essential for Honda to come up with something new. Honda currently does not offer anything in the 125 cc scooter segment and with the Activa 125 Honda will aim to bridge this gap. As after the new scooter's launch company will have a 125 cc scooter along with a 110 cc Activa in their portfolio. Honda will sell both the scooters simultaneously.

The new Activa 125 is rumoured to be powered by a 125 cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, forced air-cooled engine. On the styling front this new scooter wil be equipped with sporty looking alloy wheels as well as new graphics apart from this the new scooter will be similar like the current Honda Activa.

The automatic scooter segment has mostly offerings in 110 cc category, which is also considered as entry-level segment. In the 125cc segment there is Suzuki Swish, Suzuki access, Vespa from Piaggio, Mahindra Rodeo and Duro but nothing from Honda. So its has become vital for Honda to launch something in this category.

Recently Honda introduced the HET(Honda Eco Technology) on all its scooters. This new technology enables the Honda scooters to provide good fuel-efficiency, which is quite important seeing the increasing fuel prices in India. As majority of population in India selects the vehicle on the basis of good fuel efficiency. This new Activa 125 will also come equipped with the HET technology. So we can expect this upcoming new Honda Activa 125 to provide a good combination of power and good fuel efficiency. If the results will be as expected than nothing can stop Honda from retaining its position as the number one scooter manufacturer in India in 125cc category as well.
