Hero MotoCorp, one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturers in India, launched the XPulse 200, XPulse 200T and the Xtreme 200S bikes today. The XPulse 200 is available in the 200 Fi and 200 carbureted versions and are priced at INR1.05 lakh and INR97,000 respectively. The XPulse 200T, the touring motorcycle in the range, has been pegged at INR94,000. The Xtreme 200S sports bike, a faired model of Xtreme 200R, will retail at INR95,000.
Commenting on the launch of the three new motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp chairman, Pawan Munjal said that the company is now riding into the next phase of its bold ‘premium’ journey to cater a customer base spread across Asia, Africa, and central and South America. New, aesthetically appealing, and technologically advanced motorcycles will be the hallmark of this phase, he added.
Hero MotoCorp head of sales and after-sales, Sanjay Bhan, said that all the three bikes are expected to hit the streets in the next 7-10 days. The entire countrywide network, Bhan said, will be covered by May end.
The XPulse 200 twins are hauled by the same air-cooled, 199.6cc motor that is fitted in the Xtreme 200R. The engine produces 18.4PS maximum power at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm peak torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission system. The XPulse 200 and the XPulse 200T, however, differ in their gear ratios.
The Xtreme 200S is the most affordable fully faired bike available in India. It’s hauled by a 199.6cc motor which produces 18.1bhp at 8,000rpm and 17.1Nm peak torque at 6,500rpm. The bike has disc brakes on both wheels and the antilock braking system (ABS) comes as a standard.
Munjal informed that all three premium bikes have been developed by Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT). He claimed that Hero has made rapid strides regarding in-house research and development since the company severed its partnership with Honda.
