Hero MotoCorp has finally launched its latest 125cc scooter avatar, the Destini 125. This scooter was showcased as the Duet 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo held in Delhi. Destini 125 is designed to be more of a family oriented scooter and is targeted mainly at mature consumers. Available in two variants- LX priced at Rs 54,650 and the exclusive VX costing Rs 57,500. Standard variant gets the silver garnishes on the bodywork, single tone seat, and steel wheels. Whereas, a chrome strip on the apron and on the sides, dual-tone seat, cast alloy wheels is what comes loaded on the exclusive VX variant.
Hero Destini 125 comes with this unique feature of i3S technology, and as of now is the only scooter to have it. This technology shuts off the engine automatically while the scooter is idling in traffic. Once you twist the throttle, the system turns on the engine back on its own. Hence the i3S technology not only helps deliver better fuel efficiency but also helps reducing pollution as well.
Convenience features like the external fuel filler cap do come in handy at the petrol pumps as it can be opened easily via the ignition slot. Destini 125 sports a combination of an analogue speedometer and a digital display for the instrument console. It houses the speedometer, odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, and a service indicator as well.
Powering this new scooter from Hero is the same 125cc engine which will power the upcoming Maestro 125 as well. It produces a max power of 8.8PS at 6750rpm with 10.2Nm of peak torque at 5000rpm and is mated to a CVT unit. Meanwhile, the suspension duties are handled by the telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Wheels are alloy or steel depending on the variant and come equipped with Ceat tubeless tyres. Safety is added by the integrated braking system controlling the drum brakes on each end.
Noble Red, Chestnut Bronze, Panther Black and Pearl Silver White are the four colours in which the Destini 125 is available. Competing with this new entrant are the conservatively designed Suzuki Access 125 (Rs.55,666) and the Honda Activa 125 (Rs.59921) (prices are of the base variants and ex-showroom, Delhi). Premium Suzuki Burgman Street, the sporty TVS NTorq and Aprilia SR 125 are some of the other rivals of this brand new scooter. But if you plan on buying the Destini 125, you will have to wait a while as the scooter is only available in the NCR market and rest of the country will be able to lay their hands on it in next three-four weeks.
