Bajaj Auto, one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers in India, has launched the 2019 Dominar 400 motorcycle at an ex-showroom price of INR1.73 lakh. The new Dominar 400 is one of the most eagerly awaited bikes in the country and carries a premium of less than INR11,000 over the current model. While Bajaj hasn’t issued any official statement regarding the launch, the new Dominar has already been spotted in some dealerships. Deliveries are likely to begin in the second week of this month.
The biggest update in the new Dominar is its powertrain. The bike is hauled by a reworked, liquid-cooled 373.3cc motor which produces 40PS maximum power at 7,000rpm. The peak torque output is 25Nm at 7,000rpm. The outgoing version of the Dominar produced 35PS maximum power at 7,000rpm and 35Nm peak torque at 6,500rpm. The dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) engine of the 2019 Dominar 400 is mated to a 6-speed gear system and has a 12.1:1 compression ratio which was 11.3:1 in the existing model.
The new Dominar is supported by Endurance upside-down (USD) forks and a rear monoshock absorber with a reworked spring rate to improve the ride quality. Other updates include a revised setup for the dual instrument console, redesigned rear view mirrors, forged aluminum mirror stalks, and a new side stand. Braking duties of the bike are handled by 230mm and 320mm rear and front disc brakes respectively. The front disc, however, is paired to a radially mounted caliper. The outgoing version had an axially-mounted unit. The kerb weight of the bike is 184kg.
Regarding the looks, the 2019 Dominar 400 has dual-tone alloy wheels instead of the gold-finished ones in the outgoing model. The bike also gets a new paint scheme and bungee straps.
