22Kymco launched the iFlow electric two-wheeler in India yesterday. The scooter commands an on-road price of INR90,000. The Flow was first exhibited at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo. It’s a more conventionally designed scooter but gets modern features like LED headlight, turn indicators, and LED tail lamps. The iFlow e-scooter has a digital instrument cluster which supports Bluetooth and Cloud-based connectivity. The two-wheeler has been launched in the Couture Brown, Fury Red, Rogue Matte Blue, Raisin Black, White Dove, and Moonlight Silver colours.
The iFlow is powered by a 2.1kw motor which, according to 22Kymco, can attain a top speed of 60kmph. The vehicle comes with the Drag and Cruise drive modes, and a reverse assist system. 22Kymco claims that the iFlow is the world’s first electric scooter to have a hill assist function. The vehicle is supported by twin rear shock absorbers and a telescopic fork in the front. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both ends. The combined braking system (CBS), as mandated by the government, comes as standard. The scooter runs on 12-inch wheels with tubeless tyres.
The 22Kymco iFlow comes with swappable lithium-ion battery technology. Each battery weighs 5kg and the company claims that it can be recharged within an hour. The iFlow can use both batteries with the regenerative braking assist feature. The e-scooter, according to 22Kymco, returns a combined mileage of 160km.
The swappable batteries, however, are not offered with the iFlow. These have to be leased separately for a monthly charge of INR1,000 or INR500 for a single unit. Customers, while giving a battery for charging, can take a fully recharged unit. It helps in eliminating the charging downtime. 22Kymco will charge INR50 for each battery swap.
Delivery of the iFlow will begin in September. The company plans to set up 300 pan-India dealerships over the next three years. The iFlow will face competition from the Okinawa i-Praise and the Ather 450 in the Indian market.
