22Kymco has launched the Like 200 scooter in India along with the X-Town 300i. 22Kymco is a partnership between the Gurugram-based 22Motors and the Taiwanese company Kwang Yang Motor. The event, however, was not exactly a ‘launch’. 22Kymco showcased the Like 150 scooter and claimed that the Like 200 would look similar to the former when it’s actually rolled out in September.
The Like 200, when launched, will command an on-road price of INR1.30 lakh. 22Kymco claimed that the two-wheeler will be placed in the most premium scooter segment in the Indian market. The price of the vehicle will be kept under check and the Like 200 will be assembled at the company’s workshop in Bhiwadi.
The Like 200 will be hauled by a single-cylinder 163cc engine. 22Kymco, however, didn’t reveal the power output of the two-wheeler. The Like 150, on the other hand, is powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected 150cc engine which produces 13.46PS maximum power and 11.8Nm peak torque. The Like 150’s power output is the highest among all 150cc scooters sold in India. The Like 200 is expected to be more powerful than its older sibling.
The 22Kymco Like 150 has a neo-retro design. Its body panels are stylish and sleek with aluminium alloy rims lending the scooter a premium look. That aside, the two-wheeler has LED lighting all through, a semi-digital instrument console, and a colour TFT screen. The vehicle’s petrol tank, interestingly, is located under the floorboard. 22Kymco claims that this will forge an even mass distribution and a better riding balance.
Components of the Like 200 will be the same as the Like 150. The scooter will be supported by a telescopic fork and a swingarm unit for suspension. It will have disc brakes on both ends. The Like 200, when actually launched, is expected to have single channel antilock braking system (ABS).
