Tata, like most other manufacturers is keen on entering the crossover segment and that is no surprise considering it is by far the hottest selling segment in India with even more growth expected. These are off-road versions of their hatchbacks aimed to attract people for the SUV like looks yet without sacrificing fuel economy and practicality of hatchbacks.

Ford has done it again. The Figo made its world debut in India and the same happened for the all-new EcoSport, a compact urban SUV that will go on sale for the domestic market in a couple of months time. This new compact SUV will start and give birth to an all-new segment in India and brings along the most advanced level of design, quality and sustainability in its class to attract new generations of customers.It will be powered by the new EcoBoost engine series and will get the smallest of the range here – a 1.0-litre petrol engine with power and performance characteristics of a 1.6-litre one.

The XUV500 has been a massive success for Mahindra however now Mahindra plans to expand and cash in on its popularity and might bring in a mini XUV500! Yes the XUV500 may be chopped and in a bid to get more sales the compact XUV500 could be soon a reality. The Quanto has not been a big success primarily because its not exactly great looking and not that much different from the Xylo.

Maruti says that the XA Alpha signifies trendiness and newness that the youth connect to. This compact, 4 metre long concept, is designed for customers wishing to enter the utility vehicle segment. It was unveiled at the first day of the Auto Expo, the XA Alpha has muscular styling and a sharp nose with a big and beefy grille. Expect it to be a five-seater and a efficient diesel motor.

Ford is currently testing the B-Max in various countries for a probable launch in late 2012. Ford India had also stated that they would be launching 8 new models in India by 2015 and we feel the B-Max will surely be in this list as well. It will compete in the luxury MPV market, a segment that would have much still competition to this offering. Expected price is between Rs 6 to 7 lakh

Fiat needs to launch new models in India. Only fresh launches will add to Fiat India's bid to revive its image in India. The best way is to launch a new small car and we think the new Panda will fit the bill perfectly. The Panda is Europe's best-selling supermini and the new one is bigger, roomier, safer and more fuel efficient than its predecessors.

In India the hot hatch segment started with the Palio 1.6. It was a starting of a new revolution, however these days the hot hatch is limited to one or two cars. But now with disposable income rising and desire for lifestyle products being increasingly demanded, powerful versions of small cars would be a great addition. The Swift is one of the most popular cars in India and the introduction of the Swift Sport would only increase the appeal of the Swift.

Renault has a long line-up of cars to introduce in India and though this year it will launch the Duster SUV, Renault also plans about the Sandero. It has a raised ground clearance (up 20mm compared with the Sandero)), black and body-coloured bumpers - which house the satin-finish chrome front and rear skid-plates -, foglamps and longitudinal roofbars (black and satin-finish chrome) which make the Sandero Stepway look more muscular and sporty from the normal Sandero.
