Volkswagen Vento
European auto maker Volkswagen (VW) is going to launch its car Vento in July 2010. The car is actually the saloon version of Polo. VW hopes to sell around 25000 units of the car annually in India.
VW will make some changes in the Polo saloon before launching it as Vento in India. The wheelbase of the existing Polo will be extended by 50mm to provide more head and leg room for rear passengers.
Vento shares a common platform with Polo. The car is likely to be launched in both petrol and diesel versions. The engine of the car will produce power of 105bhp. The diesel variant will offer torque of 25.5kgm while the petrol variant will offer 15.8kgm of torque. The car may be priced around Rs 7-9 lakh.
