Skoda is planning to launch its SUV Yeti in India soon. The car will be a cheaper alternative to Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Captiva, Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Mitsubishi Outlander. The car is likely to be launched in both petrol and diesel versions with 1.6L to 2.0L petrol engines and a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine. Yeti will reflect the beauty and power of both Fabia and Octavia. The car will be placed in between these two cars and will predominantly be built with a front wheel drive configuration. The 4.2 metre long, five-door vehicle has an impressive front end with a ribbed grille and stylish headlamps.�Yeti will have some innovative seating options like the three bucket seats in the last row. The car was recently displayed at Geneva Motor Show. Yeti is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakhs.

Guys... I went to the Skoda dealership seeking details. They have no clue of the launch dates yet. They don\'t have any specs with them and they most certainly don\'t have the prices.
Still they are chasing me to book this with a 1L advance.
The tentative pricing as per almost all dealers is around 16-17L ex-Delhi, so most of us are going to be utterly disappointed once it is out there.

I agree with many of the comments above. Firstly, Yeti is not a SUV, it\\\'s not an Off Roader like many are expecting. It\\\'s a simple high seating vehicle positioned in between Octavia & Fabia. Yes, It shd have been around 10 Lacs. But the company\\\'s policy of SKD doesn\\\'t allow the pricing as expected.
So it\\\'s a cheat deal to customers. Someone rightly said, It will disappear soon from market.
Absolute not worth buying. Scorpio/Safari can be a better alternative or go high end with Pajero/Fortuner/Endeavour..

Skoda should not enter India with this car/SUV with a price tag higher than 10 lacs (onroad) otherwise Yeti shall disappear very fast.Scorpio and Innova type brands will eat and digest it easily.And Yeti can not compete with Pajero,Endeavour type brands even with a higher price tag.

anything above 11 lacs for this vehicle is not worth looking into. Also Skoda service dealers are not dependable at all. The whole world knows about it but they do not take any action. this is also impacting sales of cousin VW. couple of my friends wanted to buy Jetta but then they went for civic as were not very sure about their service.

Well till now the news is true that it is 17 lac ex-showroom, well skoda promised for 10 lac initially but they let down on their word. Well the price is idiotic as with on road of 20 lac why should i go for this vehicle, i might go for fortuner or endaevour or pajero for that matter, and trust me the above mentioned cars will run over Yeti any day. Guys no point in buying this caras there are much technologically advanced cars for the same price tag.

I was also waiting for Yeti with price tag of 12 Lk but now the total money to be shelled out is around 20 Lk. There are uncofirmed news that Skoda is not getting much response so they might prepone the launch of stripped down version some where around 15 Lk.

Skoda announced earlier that Yeti is expected to be price around Rs.10 lakhs. Now it has been changed from 15 to 17 lakhs, when it originally launched it may be 20 lakhs. I will say it will be a total failure in Indian market with this price tag. It is not worth for more than 10-12 lakhs.
Other countries like Gulf there is no demand for Skoda at all, only in India there is at least some demand.

When I saw it on internet I went to the showroom at somajiguda hyderabad and booked yeti by giveng 50000/- in Dec 2009 , we were told that the car will be delivered in feb or march 2010, but till now it is not delivered, on asking them they r telling to wait or take back the amount.If I would have invested that amount somewhere I would have got a minimum profit returns. never trust them till the car is been delivered.

This car was scheduled 2 be launched in India by march 2010.. Skoda just keepd delaying the launch date.. like they did for the Fabia for over 2 years > i wonder how such big companies don't stick to their commitments, Now I talked to the dealer the other day and they said they R accepting bookings .. and the price tentatively is about 17 Lakhs.. which is absurd .. because they have been publicising the vehicle to be in the 10-12 lac range and this truly feels bad to have waited .. now i feel cheated .. and the launch has been postponed to October.. May this model faill...

It should be priced below 12 lacs on road. Else still Toyota Innova is and will remain the best option. Basically Skoda cars are not premium cars in the European markets. Here in India, anything foreign, we simply lap it up. Also, the prices are way beyond what they charge in other markets. Simply robbing people here.

For 10 lakhs this is not a car that is worth the value, better if it is priced at not more than 3.5 lakhs then it is a worthy idea.
For me, being a mother of four kids this is a better option to have my kids picked up from home to school and back and forth, with that of the sunday ridings to places like temples, malls and other places.
For Skoda motors, with regards to its poor performance this vehicle is not worth. The level of service offered by Skoda motors are poorest at their level in India, which is a more STRICT & POWERFUL ECONOMY.
YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO CHEAT THE INDIAN PEOPLE OF THEIR MONEY.

Yeti seem to be a nice effort made by Skoda as it is a perfect vehicle for metros because of the compact size, also good to drive on country side. A perfect combo of city & highway.
I intend to buy one as soon as it takes off in India. Skoda should keep the price with-in 10 lacs as to allow the major chunk to enjoy the engineering master piece.
The ultimate interiors & comfortable seating makes it a perfect family car.

Dont believe that Skoda will sell an SUV for 10 laks so as the engine possibly not 1.2 Ltr. Aiming a 3 Bucket seat at back is by knowing the Indian consumer mind to add some Child seat at the back (side ways seats) so that entry is possble by folding one of the seat. Outlander/CR-V and Grand Vitara failed due to this abscence of the 3rd row or even a possibility to upgrade. Outander abroad has 3 row seats as no one prefers to buy an SUV for 25 laks for 5 passengers rather stick to luxury car.

Please do not put mindless comments. Skoda brings this cross-over, mind you it's not an SUV, as the beginning of a niche segment among Indian cars. It's powerful, has very good ground clearance, and aimed to become a city rider as well as the weekend getaway vehicle. The build quality seen at the Geneva motor show was tremendous. It has got huge wheels and superb interiors. We do not have anything in this segment in India. We seldom have either low lying sedans with belly scratches or huge bulky SUV, MUV's. No one can confidently say they can take the sedans available in India on all the indian roads without any issues. Ford Fusion was the only try at this till date, but with poor marketing and service. If priced around 10L this should be a hit on Indian roads.

Correct! Fusion is a good vehicle but poor marketing and same will go with Skoda as well. Dont believe the quality saw at the Geneva Motor show - In India it will take another few decades to get that quality - Tata Indicruz had a stunning look and finish in the Motor show - But practically here the One one coming out looks as cheap as Xylo Interiors as well Exterior a Dubba.

I saw the picture and the written performance. The comments of several personnels. The rear shape look-like Tata sumo. Looks bulky. The rear should have more shaped like the outlander, fortuner or Xtrail. What`s wrong in giving some good shape like the Foreign models?I do not think that providing good shape will increase the price much more. Actualy these car manufacturers cheating the Indians by providing nasty shapes & high prices and very bad services. In europe & Western countries they are giving very good shaped (AERO-DYNAMIC STREAM LINED) cars in amuch reasonable price with all options. They are giving 3~5 years unlimited warrenty to some SUV`s. In India they are giving Max: 1 year Limited warrenty .( max. 60000~80000 Kms). A person who is running 100 kms (to&fro) shall reach defenitely this 6oooo kms within a year. After that he has to pay much more money for each services. Instead of satisfying with what they offer, we have to have the demanding capacity by knowing the facilities available or the other peoples(Foreigners) demanding.Such mentality is essential to brake against the price hike of each and every products and hence to increase the quality of the products. THINK OF IT .

Dont ever expect this SUV will be proced at 10 Lakhs by Skoda! Do you expect Skoda will do so looking at what they did when they launched Fabia. But if they have learnt a lesson from that, yes, you can expect it at 10 lakhs. Wait and see....

Few people go for looks and few for performance. All the vehicles launched by Skoda have been a class in itself with each one givin superior driving comfortability and having luxurious interior. I am sure this one is gonna be one helluva ride, an SUV in this price range will surely give its opponents run for their money.

Guys... I went to the Skoda dealership seeking details. They have no clue of the launch dates yet. They don\'t have any specs with them and they most certainly don\'t have the prices. Still they are chasing me to book this with a 1L advance. The tentative pricing as per almost all dealers is around 16-17L ex-Delhi, so most of us are going to be utterly disappointed once it is out there.

Hey Guys, I agree with many of the comments above. Firstly, Yeti is not a SUV, it\\\'s not an Off Roader like many are expecting. It\\\'s a simple high seating vehicle positioned in between Octavia & Fabia. Yes, It shd have been around 10 Lacs. But the company\\\'s policy of SKD doesn\\\'t allow the pricing as expected. So it\\\'s a cheat deal to customers. Someone rightly said, It will disappear soon from market. Absolute not worth buying. Scorpio/Safari can be a better alternative or go high end with Pajero/Fortuner/Endeavour.. Cheers, Amit
Skoda should not enter India with this car/SUV with a price tag higher than 10 lacs (onroad) otherwise Yeti shall disappear very fast.Scorpio and Innova type brands will eat and digest it easily.And Yeti can not compete with Pajero,Endeavour type brands even with a higher price tag.

anything above 11 lacs for this vehicle is not worth looking into. Also Skoda service dealers are not dependable at all. The whole world knows about it but they do not take any action. this is also impacting sales of cousin VW. couple of my friends wanted to buy Jetta but then they went for civic as were not very sure about their service.
Well till now the news is true that it is 17 lac ex-showroom, well skoda promised for 10 lac initially but they let down on their word. Well the price is idiotic as with on road of 20 lac why should i go for this vehicle, i might go for fortuner or endaevour or pajero for that matter, and trust me the above mentioned cars will run over Yeti any day. Guys no point in buying this caras there are much technologically advanced cars for the same price tag.
I was also waiting for Yeti with price tag of 12 Lk but now the total money to be shelled out is around 20 Lk. There are uncofirmed news that Skoda is not getting much response so they might prepone the launch of stripped down version some where around 15 Lk.

Skoda announced earlier that Yeti is expected to be price around Rs.10 lakhs. Now it has been changed from 15 to 17 lakhs, when it originally launched it may be 20 lakhs. I will say it will be a total failure in Indian market with this price tag. It is not worth for more than 10-12 lakhs. Other countries like Gulf there is no demand for Skoda at all, only in India there is at least some demand. Thomas and Elsa, Bahrain.

When I saw it on internet I went to the showroom at somajiguda hyderabad and booked yeti by giveng 50000/- in Dec 2009 , we were told that the car will be delivered in feb or march 2010, but till now it is not delivered, on asking them they r telling to wait or take back the amount.If I would have invested that amount somewhere I would have got a minimum profit returns. never trust them till the car is been delivered.

This car was scheduled 2 be launched in India by march 2010.. Skoda just keepd delaying the launch date.. like they did for the Fabia for over 2 years > i wonder how such big companies don't stick to their commitments, Now I talked to the dealer the other day and they said they R accepting bookings .. and the price tentatively is about 17 Lakhs.. which is absurd .. because they have been publicising the vehicle to be in the 10-12 lac range and this truly feels bad to have waited .. now i feel cheated .. and the launch has been postponed to October.. It should be priced below 12 lacs on road. Else still Toyota Innova is and will remain the best option. Basically Skoda cars are not premium cars in the European markets. Here in India, anything foreign, we simply lap it up. Also, the prices are way beyond what they charge in other markets. Simply robbing people here.

For 10 lakhs this is not a car that is worth the value, better if it is priced at not more than 3.5 lakhs then it is a worthy idea. For me, being a mother of four kids this is a better option to have my kids picked up from home to school and back and forth, with that of the sunday ridings to places like temples, malls and other places. For Skoda motors, with regards to its poor performance this vehicle is not worth. The level of service offered by Skoda motors are poorest at their level in India, which is a more STRICT & POWERFUL ECONOMY. YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO CHEAT THE INDIAN PEOPLE OF THEIR MONEY.

Yeti seem to be a nice effort made by Skoda as it is a perfect vehicle for metros because of the compact size, also good to drive on country side. A perfect combo of city & highway. I intend to buy one as soon as it takes off in India. Skoda should keep the price with-in 10 lacs as to allow the major chunk to enjoy the engineering master piece. The ultimate interiors & comfortable seating makes it a perfect family car.

Dont believe that Skoda will sell an SUV for 10 laks so as the engine possibly not 1.2 Ltr. Aiming a 3 Bucket seat at back is by knowing the Indian consumer mind to add some Child seat at the back (side ways seats) so that entry is possble by folding one of the seat. Outlander/CR-V and Grand Vitara failed due to this abscence of the 3rd row or even a possibility to upgrade. Outander abroad has 3 row seats as no one prefers to buy an SUV for 25 laks for 5 passengers rather stick to luxury car.
Please do not put mindless comments. Skoda brings this cross-over, mind you it's not an SUV, as the beginning of a niche segment among Indian cars. It's powerful, has very good ground clearance, and aimed to become a city rider as well as the weekend getaway vehicle. The build quality seen at the Geneva motor show was tremendous. It has got huge wheels and superb interiors. We do not have anything in this segment in India. We seldom have either low lying sedans with belly scratches or huge bulky SUV, MUV's. No one can confidently say they can take the sedans available in India on all the indian roads without any issues. Ford Fusion was the only try at this till date, but with poor marketing and service. If priced around 10L this should be a hit on Indian roads.
Correct! Fusion is a good vehicle but poor marketing and same will go with Skoda as well. Dont believe the quality saw at the Geneva Motor show - In India it will take another few decades to get that quality - Tata Indicruz had a stunning look and finish in the Motor show - But practically here the One one coming out looks as cheap as Xylo Interiors as well Exterior a Dubba.
I saw the picture and the written performance. The comments of several personnels. The rear shape look-like Tata sumo. Looks bulky. The rear should have more shaped like the outlander, fortuner or Xtrail. What`s wrong in giving some good shape like the Foreign models?I do not think that providing good shape will increase the price much more. Actualy these car manufacturers cheating the Indians by providing nasty shapes & high prices and very bad services. In europe & Western countries they are giving very good shaped (AERO-DYNAMIC STREAM LINED) cars in amuch reasonable price with all options. They are giving 3~5 years unlimited warrenty to some SUV`s. In India they are giving Max: 1 year Limited warrenty .( max. 60000~80000 Kms). A person who is running 100 kms (to&fro) shall reach defenitely this 6oooo kms within a year. After that he has to pay much more money for each services. Instead of satisfying with what they offer, we have to have the demanding capacity by knowing the facilities available or the other peoples(Foreigners) demanding.Such mentality is essential to brake against the price hike of each and every products and hence to increase the quality of the products. THINK OF IT .
