Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company. It is the leader in commercial vehicles in each segment and is fouth largest truck manufacturer the world. Tata Motors was the first in the country's engineering sector to be listed on the NYSE (September 2004) owing to the fact that they have been the pioneers in the field of automobile engineering in India. The first ever Tata vehicle to ply on Indian roads was in the year 1945.

Tata did not keep its base in India only and ventured out into the foreign markets and has ties with Fiat, which provides Tata with designs for the engines.

Tata focuses on environment friendly technologies in emmissions andalternative fuels. It has been developing technologies like Electric and hybrid vehicles for transportation of goods as well aspublic transportation.
