In 2008, Yamaha introduced the YZF-R15 in India and since then this bike has set the cash registers ringing for the Japanese manufacturer. Now Yamaha is going to launch its motorcycle, the YZF-R15 in Indonesia on 23 April. Online bookings for the bike will commence from 15 April and Yamaha has come up with a website ‘iwantyamahar15.com’ for this purpose. The first 1500 online buyers of the bike will get a chance to earn modifications from Yamaha. According to reports the renowned Japanese manufacturer is likely to price the R15 in the price bracket of Rp 25 to Rp 30 million.
Indonesian two-wheeler market is highly competitive like the Indian two-wheeler market. So pricing of the Yamaha R15 will play a significant role in the success of the upcoming bike. The Japanese giant already offers the naked version of the R15 in Indonesia by the name of ‘the Vixion’ and sells it at a price of around Rp 25 million.
If the company prices the R15 in the same price bracket as of the Vixion, then it will surely hamper the sales of the naked motorcycle. On the other hand, if the Japanese manufacturer prices the R15 over Rp 30 million, then it will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja RR Mono, which is no doubt the best bike in the class. Hence it will be interesting to see how the Japanese manufacturer prices the Yamaha R15 in Indonesia.
