Yamaha launched R15 version 2.0 after keeping customer feedback in mind. The larger rear tyre, new fairing, aluminium swing arm, new alloys and all new rear design were the changes that attracted Rs. 10k more for the version 2.0. The bike started slow on sales charts though and could not get much attention from the customers.
Recently, the Japanese two-wheeler giant launched two new editions with special colour schemes; the 50th Anniversary edition, which is painted in white and red for celebrating 50 years of Road Racing World Champion Grand Prix for Yamaha and the Fiery Red edition, painted in red with flare decals all over. The changes are only skin deep with the same set-up under the fairing producing 17ps @ 8,500 rpm and 15Nm of maximum torque at 7,500 rpm.
Yamaha plans to sell 4000 units of both the special edition bikes. The 50th Anniversary Limited Edition and Fiery Red model are available in showroom with the sticker price of Rs. 1,11,000/- and Rs. 1,10,000/-(ex-showroom-Delhi) respectively.
