What’s the best adrenalin rush for a car buff? Well, it has to be a supercar. Seldom do we spot supercars on public roads and in India they are as rare as sighting the ‘Shah’ of Bollywood himself. Watching a supercar blitz past is a rare treat but it’s something you just can’t miss to feast your eyes upon, nevertheless. A very well known gentleman from the local tuner scene recently organized a rally exclusively for supercar owners. A good reason then, to roll out some horsepower on to the streets.
Pete’s Super Sunday was held in Kochi where in some of the most exclusive machines came out in numbers. The rally was flagged off from Pete’s Automotive Products Pvt. Ltd, at 6 am by the MD of the company Peter K Chacko himself. The list of cars that were present for the event is nothing less than mouth-watering. Among the biggest names was a Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430, Audi RS5, Porsche 911, BMW M3, BMW Z4, Jaguar XFR, Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG, BMW 640D, Bentley Flying Spur, Subaru Impreza, Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG, Nissan 350Z and Porsche Boxster.
The cars drove to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where youngsters and car enthusiasts had already gathered to welcome the convoy. It was a one-of-a-kind event held for the first time in Kerala and hence excitement was high. All the cars which participated in the rally had been tuned for extra horsepower by Peter Chacko’s company. I bet the owners had a blast and for the enthusiasts it must’ve meant a Sunday morning well spent. Having said that, supercar shows are slowly gaining popularity in parts of the country. The metropolitan cities of Mumbai and Delhi often see such events being organized. Let’s hope that more such gatherings take place in the south of the country as well in the future.
