Mahindra 2 Wheelers sold 12,750 units in the month of March 2012, thus registering a massive growth of 200 percent compared to the previous month. The recently launched Mahindra Duro 125 DZ has certainly become a hit among customers as volumes of the improved scooter recorded a rise.
Mahindra's new Duro DZ has undergone a massive overhaul compared to the standard model. Now, customers get new telescopic front shocks and a new headlight design which allows for better visibility. Since the launch of other 125 cc scooters, the segment has seen immense growth, Mahindra's answer to the Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS Wego certainly seems to have gone down well with the buyers. In the last fiscal year Mahindra 2 Wheelers sold 1,34,570 units.
Mr. Viren Popli, Senior V.P. Strategy and Market Development, Mahindra Two Wheelers said, “The fact that retail volumes for the new Duro DZ have more than doubled in March has proved that consumers across the country have appreciated the product’s ‘Romba Solid’ value proposition which makes it the most suitable 125 cc scooter for tough Indian roads."
"Last month, we had offered to pay Rs. 500/- to any person who `test rides’ the new Mahindra Duro DZ and yet, decides to buy a scooter from a competing brand. This reflected the confidence we have in the Duro DZ. This unique challenge, was launched in key cities in South India, and received an overwhelming response with customers clearly preferring the Romba Solid Duro DZ. This month we are renewing and extending this challenge nationally," he added.
