Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is working on a new Dream series motorcycle. According to sources the company will launch this new upcoming bike around April 2014. The renowned Japanese automobile manufacturer is currently concentrating on the mass segment motorcycles and scooters, this segment is also known as commuter segment. This segment is of utmost important to two-wheeler manufacturers in India as this segment provides the maximum number of sales. Honda wants to make the most out of this segment. In today’s cut-throat environment where the two-wheeler manufacturers are competing neck to neck with each other, launching a product in the commuter segment makes a safe bet.
Honda unveiled the all new Activa 125 and displayed its other products at the Auto Expo 2014. The company also announced the production of the Honda CBR 650F in India, which would be available by 2016. The company is also expected to setup a new manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This facility would be HMSI’s fourth plant in the country. This plant is expected to be operational by 2015 and will have an initial production capacity to manufacture 12 lakh vehicles per year. This new manufacturing facility will definitely boost Honda’s total annual production capacity.
Honda’s main focus at this point of time is on commuter segment bikes and scooters, which are providing good number of sales to the automobile manufacturers. This segment motorcycles and scooters are affordable and provide good fuel-economy to the masses. The upcoming new motorcycle will be the third offering in the Dream series of Honda motorcycles. Other two bikes of Dream series are the Dream Yuga and Dream Neo, both these bikes are doing good in the market.
The upcoming new bike is expected to be powered by an efficient and refined 109 cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, Air-cooled, SI engine which produces maximum power of 8.6 PS and maximum torque of 8.63 Nm. The same engine also powers the current Dream series bikes- Honda Dream Yuga and Dream Neo.
The Japanese manufacturer will provide this new upcoming bike a host of innovative features, which will be the highlight of this new upcoming Dream series bike. These new innovative features will help Honda to get good sales from this bike and also help to counter its competitors mainly the Mahindra Centuro, which is a feature laden bike and is selling in good numbers. Apart from these innovative features the new upcoming bike will feature stylish graphics, alloy wheels, disc brake (optional), informative instrument console and tubeless tyres. Honda would price this new upcoming Dream bike at a slightly higher price than the Dream Yuga as it will be equipped with more features.
