Chevrolet has unveiled the all-new Beat which is also known as the Spark in international markets. This new generation model will replace the current Beat that is sold in India. While the new car will go on sale internationally by the end of the year, its safe to assume it will come to India by early 2016.

The new Beat looks completely different as compared to the current generation model.  The height has been lowered and it doesn’t look like a tall hatchback any more. The front Is completely redesigned and we particularly like the big air-dam and the narrow bonnet grille. Headlamps are smaller in size but longer and swept back. Side profile is new and the increase in wheelbase is easily evident.

The new Beat retains the same location for rear door handle and we think it’s a good move as it looks pretty cool. Rear design is again all-new and this new version looks smart and upmarket. Bumper design is pretty striking and so are the tail lamps.

"Chevrolet is fast becoming one of the world's most important mini- and small car manufacturers, offering customers around the globe a new road to the refinement, efficiency and connectivity features that resonate with them," said Alan Batey, president, GM North America and Global Chevrolet.
"The redesigned 2016 Spark builds on a strong legacy and takes the segment to a higher level with features and technologies not typically offered."
Chevrolet has not released any official images on the interiors but we are told the new Beat will be far more spacious and the current speedometer console will be replaced by a conventional one.

The new Beat gets a 1.4-litre petrol engine internationally. However, to comply with small car norms, the Indian version will continue to come with the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel motors. Expect Chevrolet to fine tune these motors for extra efficiency. We also hope NVH levels on the diesel motor are reduced further.
In terms of pricing, the new car will have a slight premium over the outgoing version which means prices will start at around Rs 4.3-4.4 lakh mark for the petrol range and around 5-5.2 lakh for the diesel versions.

Bigger and better Beat

Pros Great Looks,Looks even better now and very efficient

Cons CongestedUncomfortable,I hope there is more space on the inside

I dont see anything wrong with the current Beat at the price it sells at. Its a great little city car with an efficient diesel engine. Obviously if you buy the Beat for a family, then its wrong and it is not meant to ferry five people in one go. The new Beat however seems to improve on this shortcoming - they say wheelbase has been increased and I hope this means more rear leg room. India will not get the 1.4 petrol that other markets will get which also means we will not get an optional automatic. But that is ok as the current engines are very good. The new car looks good but I dont know why they will remove the sporty speedometer and use a conventional design. Also, the current Beat has so many discounts and offers - the new Beat will have a higher price and no discount which will make the overall deal not so good, isnt it
