- Esteem
Great Car. Out Of Production Though
I recently sold my esteem after 8 years of ownership. Its been a terrific car all through...in terms of comfort, fuel economy. At the price i felt it was a great deal, especially when i compared it to the likes of the ikon etc.
I had bought it when technology wasnt all that great...so I did have a lot of technical issues which just made the entire maintenence cost go up. But am told that the recent ones are perfectly comparable to its peers

Could Have Been Better
Wagon R is surely one of the best cars in its segment, moreso when you look at the kind of people who go for it. Its definitely not the best looking, nor can it boast of being the most comfortable. But it surely gives an unbelievable mileage (upwards of 17kmpl for me!), has a lot of head room and the tall body structure makes you feel sitting high up on the road.
I found the finishing to be dissapointing, when I compare it to the likes of the Santro or the Spark or the Swift. And that shouldnt be the case considering the price of a VXi is only about 50K cheaper than a Swift VXi.
All in all...not a bad car...but if you really hv that extra buck, go for the swift anyday

Hv been using the car for 2 yrs now...and hv loved every bit of it. I recall a backlash on the swift arnd tht time because of its poor fuel efficiency...but I never experienced the same. It gives me a 14.5kmpl on city roads.
Extremely sturdy (because of its high weight) at high speeds; but then the weight also reduces the pick-up. I find it very comfortable to drive, comes at just the right price (though i wouldnt say that for the ZXi or the LXi - VXi seems to the best model).
Definitely the best in its class.

- Get Ready To Pay More
Get ready to pay more
Agree with you Vivek. I think users who buy guzzling cars shud pay more...but then they are doing so by buying more fuel...afterall 50% of the petrol price is taxes.
this kind of differential taxation really messes with the industry. the govt shud let it be on economics...

No harmeet...dont expect the mileage of the wagon R to be near the alto. Wagon will give you a 15-16 kmpl at its best on city roads

Thanks a lot Alex for the added views. I totally agree (and admit that I missed commenting on the same) that the boot space is nothing to be proud of. Thankfully we have a bigger car back home so we usually use that one for carrying luggage.
Drive safe everyone..
