Whether we believe or not but its true that the cycling culture and the cycling events has been spreading their roots deep into the country. The cycle federation of India is the major community which started the initiative to make the approach of the cycles to most of the metro cities in India. As compared to the Tier II and Tier III cities, urban areas have less ratio of cycles.
Along with promoting the cycle culture and the benefits of cycle, the upcoming event will raise its voice for other social activities too. To some extent, the upcoming cycle events are poking people’s interest in cleaner and greener tomorrow. Cycle symbolizes a stand for fit future.
1- CYCLE INDIA – 6th March, Gurgaon
It will be the first edition of the event in India and will grace the the city as beyond the cycling benefits, it will be all about women safety. The event calls all the participants to show their love for saving the girl child. The event is for those who believe in outdoor activities and are also engaged with the Holistic fitness. Cyclothon will also be celebrating International Women’s Day by conducting women safety camps during the two day expo on 6th and 7th March, 2015.
The event will be flagged off on 6th March in Gurgaon at 4 Pm. The attention seeker race of the event will be 100 km National Elite Race, where professional cyclists will be pedaling head to head for a cash award of Rs 5 lakh. Apart from the seasoned race, the event also has rides such as fun ride spanning 5 km, corporate ride of 10 km and amateur ride of 50 km in its offing.
2- HOLI CYCLOMILAN- 6th March, Khan Market
This will be the third edition of the Holi Cyclomilan. The event is about a quick ride to India Gate and to meet their cycling buddies. The ride will start at sharp 7 am in the morning from Akshardham and will pedal towards India Gate. The event will also have small eat up and Holi playing session at Khan market.
3- Ride to Hussainiwala- 22nd March, India Gate
The ride is a tribute to the three freedom fighters. Who were mad for the country’s independence and sacrificed their lives at a young age. The pedalars ride is on the same day when Britishers hanged them. The riders will ride to their statue in Hussainiwala from India Gate, Delhi.
The ride will have two categories:
425 Km ride (India Gate – Hussianiwala)
850km ride (India Gate – Hussianiwala – India Gate)
The ride will start at 5 am on 22nd March and all the riders joining the ride are advised for mandatory helmets, gloves, sunglasses, spare tubes and water bottle.
