Mahindra and Mahindra introduced the updated version of its rugged SUV Bolero in 2008. The Bolero featured refreshed looks which included newly designed head and tail lamps, better looking grill, refreshed interiors and most important a new 2.6 turbocharged CRDe diesel unit from the Scorpio. Bolero has always been famous for being rugged and for it go anywhere, do anything capabilities and the updated version took it a step above. The 2.6L superchagerd diesel unit produces 97bhp at 3800rpm and a torque of 252Nm at 2000rpm which is good enough to take the Bolero through almost any terrain and the top speed is now 136kmph which is around 15kmph more than the DI version.  Bolero is made for going off the roads and the same shows in its ride and handling characteristic. The car tends to give a bouncy feel on high speeds and has a lot of body roll, but take it off-road and you will realise this is what the car is made for. It gets out of every puddle, dirt track and gravel road with poise.  The only problem was the CRDe was offered only with 4x2. The Bolero manages to return 10.1kpml in the city and 13.2kmpl on the highway which is not at all bad.
Mahindra and Mahindra replaced Bolero with the latest generation Bolero in 2011. In the used car market one can actually find Bolero’s which have run really less and also get it in good price. Bolero CRDe is available in the use car market between 3.4-8lakh rupees. Spares and Service is handled by M&M and should be of no problem.
