Maruti Swift ZDi
Gaadi Road Test Verdict
It was way back in 2005 when Maruti launched the Swift hatchback in the Indian market. Little did they and the industry know that this very vehicle would go on to create history and re-write the rules of the Indian hatchback industry. Six years later, that is in August 2011, Maruti have once again done what they are known for! The all-new Suzuki Swift that is already on sale in various international markets is now right here in India.
At first glance, you can easily mistake this one for the old version.
However within seconds, the differences start showing up. The new Swift is longer, wider and higher than the previous version with an extended wheelbase too. It is built on an entirely new platform and changes have been made to the way it looks. For example the headlamps are bigger and more swept back into the bonnet. The bumpers are sporty and the alloy wheel pattern in the ZXI/ZDI models is terrific. Changes dont stop here. The interiors are all-new, roomy and loaded with features. The overly black theme though remains!
The all-new Maruti Swift will go on sale in the Indian market on the 17th of August 2011 at a slightly higher price - but it is still well worth every single penny!
|What We Like:||Looks, more space, overall package of VXI and VDI|
|What We Don't Like:||Huge waiting on diesel, expensive top end ZXI and ZDI|

New maruti swift
New Swift has all the features that you can expect in a hatchback. Style, comfort, look, interior, exterior, every thing holds a modern, young end energetic feeling. If the prices are good then there is nothing that can compete this car in its class. I think this will create another landmark for maruti. Thanks Praveen read more
best selling car
I own a swift VDI, it a nice car in terms of mileage and computability. but the only problem with this car is that is not spacious, it lacks headroom as well as legroom. if a healthy person with height approx 6 inches sits on a driving seat, there will be no space left for the rear passenger at the legroom. apart from that, i drove the car on highway it give excellent mileage and has a good pick-up. the quality of the plastic, the dash, and the material used are all good. read more

Maruti Swift-struggling to find competetion
One of my dreams came true on October 4 2011 when I could lay my hands on the all new Maruti Swift ZDi that too within 1 & half months of booking as the strike in Manesar plant was in full blow & was promised de-livery not up till April 2012 Friends, family and neighbors were in awe which justified the choice of product and collectively praised the Torque Blue colour. A car decorator also offered me an exchange with his white colored Swift ZDi. I was on 7th moon and left no chance of being behind the wheels even risking my married left and fatherhood. Good sense prevailed.on my family & they realized to be the part of fun rather to be on the other side of it. 1,248 cc DDIs engine borrowed & shared with Fiat is a class leading peppy engine producing good power & healthy torque much better than the likes of Ford Figo, Nissan Micra and Renault Pulse. The liveliness of the engine is further proved by the fact that other than Linea, Punto & Swift, this engine gives service to Ritz, SX-4, Indica Vista and Manza. The engine is a tag slow to respond initially but once it reaches the 2 k rpm one experi-ences a sudden burst of power as the turbo comes to life risky for a new driver but a boon for the hunter & there on life is smooth. It is a Fiat engine but according to me it has best gelled with Maruti Swift & has made it a champion performer with a complete package of Style, Built, Space, Engine, Economy, Power & Top of it the Maruti Badge. Styling of the car is top notch and engine hood is big, front half of cabin is spacious and instru-ment panel is best in class & why wouldnt it be. it is borrowed from Maruti Kizashi- a car with a Rs. 20 lac price tag. Alloy wheels of 15 inches are perfect & the spoke design is really a signature. All the features in the top end are good. Rear leg room & boot space is a compromise enhancing my point that the front end up to front half portion of cabin is sculptured in a such a way that it gives a very premium feel and gives a sense that the vehicle if not just a hatchback. I have covered some dream destinations J & K, Leh Ladakh, Himachal, Uttaranchal & all of North, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chattisgarh and of course MP-my state in my dream car with ease, safely and style. I strongly feel that if one is blessed with a Maruti Swift ZDi he is more likely to be found on the roads than in any other place.at least true in my case. read more

I own a Swift ZDI (2013 model) and I love my life with it!!
I own a Swift ZDI (2013 model) and I love my life with it!! I accept that the new Swift is a much evolved brother of old one. But, there are lot of compromises which are part of it. Here are few, 1. Yes, the fun factor is reduced but not lost. 2. Rear passenger space is compromised, can not accommodate 3 adults but the older one did a little better. 3. Average per liter is a big let down. My friend owns a Hyundai i20 CRDi which returns atleast 18+ on most of the mixed conditions. Once he even achieved a healthy 21+. I was expecting a lot from Maruti on its newer model. 4. I some how feel that Swift is no more a drivers car as it used to be earlier! Maruti has tried to tone down the performance (low end) in hope of better efficiency and on paper the new swift is more than 2 kml more efficient as per ARAI. However somehow in the real world its neither quick nor efficient. Maruti has definitely got it wrong. read more
