Editorial Review of the New Tata Indigo eCS 2010-2013 LX

Gaadi Road Test Verdict

The world's smallest sedan and India's cheapest sedan, the Indigo eCS recently got the '25kmpl' diesel engine from the Indica eV2 which also means that this is now India's most fuel efficient diesel sedan! Phew - there are so many credits to this little sedan. But is it a good enough buy?

Comfort:   Drive:
Looks: Interiors:
Mileage: 25 kmpl Engine:
Suspension: Other Features:
What We Like: Value, diesel engine's punch and economy, suspension
What We Don't Like: Looks, interior design, petrol engine not efficient

TATA Indigo DICIOR CS LS
We bought the TATA Indigo CS DICOR LS on 21 October. There are other variants in the CS class itslef, but we found the DICOR better as it was smoother and more effecient than the ordinary TDI version. The car's first long drive on the delivery day was to BIAL. My father was leaving abroad, so we had to drop him to the airport in the same car, I couldnt believe the performance of the car. It easily touched 120kmph and I was in the front seat sitting beside the driver, I just couldnt realise. It is smooth as well. The car did extremely well and I am glad that TATA Motors have developed such a great car with such good Engine. Its a perfect value for money. Nobody in India gives you such value for money car. It has some teething issues like the fit and finish, you can notice it with bare eyes, especially the interiors, but if you are ready to spend something extra for the interiors then you dont have to bother about it. The one thing that seems to be strong enough is the engine, no doubt about that. The dealer was Prerana Motors on Hosur Road in Bangalore. I rated their service as very satisfactory, but not excellent. If you want your first car to be a sedan, then this is the car I would recommend you to buy. I wont compare this car with others, because other cars' are not worth comapring, they might be very good with interiors, but they are expensive at the same time. The specification of the car is also good. Since our model is LS and now even the LX model has been launched, you can go for it, its fully loaded. This car also seats 5 luxuriously but the 6th passenger can be squeezed in but I am sure that he too will be comfortable. If anyone tells you that this brand is better than this or that, dont bother, take a test drive then make note. Also, if you are a budget buyer, this is the right car. Wish you good luck. read more

poor customer service by tatas
I had booked a vehicle with full amount payment on 27 Jun 09 with a promise from my dealer of a maximum delay of about 15-20 days But till date I am running from pillar to post to find out what the status of my booking is? Tata customer care responded to my first mail and gave me the contact number of their territory manager ( Danish Dheer) whom i contacted promptly. The gentleman talked as if he is the person holding all the powers and promised to get back to me by evening regarding my order. He never did. I contacted him once again and after that he has stopped receiving my calls all together. I reported the same to customer care on e-mail twice but am yet to receive any clarification from them too. I have not left any known stone unturned to the extent of contacting Marketing office, corporate office, billing Section, manufacturing section ... list is endless with the end result being a big Zero. It seems Tatas work like a SARKARI organization and believe in making you run from office to office. the only thing left for me is to contact Mr Ratan tata and apprise him of how his employees are working and where his company is headed. My advise to everyone is that please be prepared for all this when you decide to go in for Tata. And remember all this is before i have the vehicle lets see what’s in store for me once i own the vehicle. read more
