| Fiat is planning an aggressive pricing strategy to boost sales in India. And, to keep prices low, it intends to increase local component sourcing. For instance, Grande Punto, to be produced at the Rs 4,000 crore Ranjangaon plant, will have an initial localisation content of 50% but will go up to 90%, helping it cut prices by 10-15%, Fiat India CEO Rajeev Kapoor said. A similar strategy will be adopted for its sedan, Linea, which is also expected to hit the roads later this year.

| Fiat of Italy has decided to turn India into a manufacturing hub for the right-hand drive versions of its Linea sedan. The Tata-Fiat combine, which made the announcement at the global launch of the car here, will start manufacturing and retailing of the car in India by mid-2008 from its Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.
