Maruti Ritz 2008-2012 Zxi
Gaadi Road Test Verdict
Launched in May 2009, the big tall boy from Maruti has been doing decent numbers in the Indian market. Selling around 5500 to 6000 units per month, the Ritz has been been a good product from the company in the domestic market and this has been possible due to the plus points that the car has. It looks big though the rear end treatment of the tail lamps and the boot design does raise a few eye brows. The Ritz however stands tall and this makes it notice on the road easily. On the inside, the design of the console and fascia is very pleasing to the eyes and the integrated audio system (ZXI model) looks smart. The Ritz scores high on the practicality front with a very ergonomically designed gear lever and cubby holes. The seating posture too is very relaxed and good for the elderly and the fair sex. However, space at the rear is limited and so is the boot space which is a sore point for the Ritz.
The engine options on the Ritz are the same as the Swift. It has a 1.2-litre petrol engine (KB12) that scores high on performance and average on efficiency. However, the selling point here is the FIAT derived diesel unit that gives the Ritz impressive performance and super fuel economy. Another plus point with the Ritz is its pricing. It is around Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 cheaper than its sibling, the Swift and dealer discounts further make it a tempting deal.
The Maruti Ritz is sold in India in seven variants – three diesel and four petrol. ABS and airbags are available as options and the top end ZXI model comes with steering controls, alloy wheels etc. Prices for the Ritz start at Rs 4.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The ARAI certified fuel economy for the Ritz petrol and diesel variants stand at 17.7kmpl and 21.1kmpl respectively.

Well i was the first one to take the test drive in the show rom i went to on the launch day..I am a proud owner of a A Star Zxi.Naw i feel i should have a ritz too..Well to start i took the test drive of zxi ,,an the moment i got in the car it felt good, there was hardly any engine noze had to really listen hard to know wheather it was start or off.i took it slowly to the road an the 85ps moter came to life instantly..an i hit a bad road patch where ever other car was slow an i could go fast it was amazing..there was not evan a sound to be heard ,then i went to 90kmspeed in the second gear an th car still did not shake, it was too good an engine..After that i dorve it with a lite foot an the car was drivble in 5th gear as low as 10km/ph speed an i could go from there to 60km speed with out comming a gear down ,the gear box is also amazing.. There is enouf room in the car for five person an a sixth one could ezly be fit in.Ritz has a new feeling an a extrmly stunning good looker.Ten out of Ten.Plz i request each one of u reading this plz do take a test drive...Regards. ,.Winn. read more
Got RITZ ZXi On 3rd Sep, 2009. Color: Fire Brick Red. Overall, it is an excellent car. Remains stable even at 120kmph (like any other modern hatch). Has lots of space, and 3 ppl can easily fit in the rear seat. The day i got the car and made 3 of my friends sit on the rear seat, one of ma friends said,"i've never sat so comfortably with 2 other ppl in a small car!". Hats off to SUZUKI on this car! It has amazing HEADROOM, and more KNEE ROOM as compared to SWIFT, or any competition. i10 is not to be compared with the RITZ, PLEASE. Ritz gives a power of 85ps, which is amazing. NO NEED of switching to 1st gear AT ALL. LITERALLY. U can start with the second gear! and even if u drive at low rpm, there are NO VIBRATIONS. THE A/C IS SUPERB. I have owned WagonR and ZEN both, but the a/c of RITZ, you need to check it out for yourself. It returned a mileage of overall 15 (i.e CITY as well as HIGHWAY). No doubt, this car is gonna rock, and afterall it is a SUZUKI, a MARUTI SUZUKI. *(i guess that is enough to say it all) read more
Maruti Ritz long term review
Maruti Ritz is the best car in hatchback segment. The exterior has futuristic design and interiors have contemporary colors. There is no problem with the service of Maruti, so you can buy this car. Also after a few years, the resale value of the car is also very good! Hence you can go for it. I am getting a consistent mileage of 18 kmpl on average. The car's superb steering response, velvetty suspension and high ground clearance are very much needed for Indian driving environment. In spite a tall boy model, Ritz is extremely stable at high speeds and there is no vibration whatsoever in the cabin at 3 digit speeds. Ritz is the best hatchback for me! read more

Not a good car impractical shape and world wide flop, in europe espeially
I am disgusted by this car as very difficult to see the bak and rear as the rear windshield is small and boot space is less than santro, moreover it's design is not good , my wife drives this car but i settle for the fiat punto, more terrific value for the money and more stylish maruti suzuki is launching impractical vehicles in india.not good aircon and difficult to see the front , choie is yours but my verdict is say no to this car as it is wastage of your 4 or 5 lakh rupees , if you want worth of your money buy punto since the punto is much more safe cars. i bought the punto only but my wife is regretting for the same as she drives ritz, so choice is yours read more
...Rits is as similar to its name.....luxurios inner as well as outer look.... i find gear shifting is too smoothly and clutch is also frindly......more over i personaly find Rits as a sports car...... read more
Wastage of your money
whether punto is flop or not it is an excellent car, even the Ferrari is flop in india, Since we indians are not used to buy high quality product, see the steel sheet of ritz the interior (made of cheap plastics)ok moreover such a cheap built quality and high price , again the value of money proposition is not there. One thing only maruti has that is service stations but i do not bring my car to service station more than 2 times in 2 years so maruti is cheap quality moreover punto there are more than 15000 on roads and interiors and build quaality is solid since we indians does not value the life that's why we say maruti cars are goodPunto is having 5 star euro n cap safety ratings but none of the maruti vehicle is having that so maruti is selling cheap dump like wagon r and estilo to india since they know indians value price and not life quality So maruti id cheap quallity maker, Europe suzuki is flop IN US also china they are flop south america people curse suzuki, north america people say it is a cheap car so every where suzuki is known for low quality cars read more
GO IN FOR RITZ VXI AND ENJOY IT FOR YEARS
I PURCHASED RITZ VXI CAR IN MARCH 2011. THIS IS MY FIRST CAR. AFTER SEARCHING AS WELL AS PHYSICALLY CHECKING SO MANY MODELS I WENT FOR RITZ VXI. RITZ VXI NE TO PHELE NAZAR ME DIL CHURA LIYA. THIS WAS MY DREAM CAR - WITH LOT OF LEG SPACE, CABIN SPACE, BEAUTIFUL OUTLOOKS. EVEN THOUGH I HAD LEARNT CAR DRIVING JUST 15 DAYS AGO, BUT DRIVING RITZ WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE. I NEVER FELT ANY DIFFCULTY IN DRIVING. I FELT AS IF I KNEW DRIVING FOR YEARS. THE MILAGE OF CAR UPTIL DATE IS COMING AROUND 16.5 WITH AC ON. THE BACK SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE. I came to know that in big companies some mad designers are there because of this tata nano failed and ritz also.Who designed backside?front portion is ok but backsite is as if due shortage of something the company pressed the top portion and no space for luggage keeping. read more
Only cons in this segment is the back side look otherwise this is the best car in this segment. I have compromise from its rear look otherwise I feel great while I am driving and also very economical. I have purchased this car few month before and drive around 50000 km and I get around 16 kmlt in normal city drive. In the comparison of Ritz niether I10 stand or Beat stand or Vista or Fiesta. Only I20 stands more and new swift but both the car cost is much more than Ritz. Its a totally family car means made for Indians. If you will compare this car with anyone then it is just a foolishness. I am really enjoying this car and thanks Maruti also becoz Maruti gave 20k discount on this vehicle than swift. Mileage is superb, maintenance is less and no noise in the petrol engine, good accelaration and very balance car in this segment. If anyone did not like Ritz then take the free ride of I10, Fiesta, Beat and Vista and feel the differance. I have already feel the difference and advice anyone to go for this vehile if anyone want to go for 1.2ltrs engine segment. Thanks Ritz. read more
