Yamaha Ray scooter launched at Rs 46,000 (ex-Delhi) : All details inside

Yamaha has finally launched its first ever scooter for the India, the Ray, at an ex-showroom at a price of Rs 46,000. The Ray scooter was first shown at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi.

The Yamaha Ray comes powered by a 113cc four-stroke engine that puts out a decent 7Bhp of power at 7500rpm along with 8.1Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. The engine ofcourse is mated to a CVT transmission like all other rivals in the segment. The bookings for the Yamaha Ray had began a few weeks back itself.

The Ray weighs 104kg, more or less like other scooters in the same price band. It however looks pretty modern and sharp and is targeted towards the  fair sex. Dimension wise, the Ray is 1835mm long, 675mm wide and 1075mm high. Further, its wheelbase of 1270mm and telescopic front forks along with unit swing arm at the rear should give it good stability. The tyres too look great with a size of 100/90 on 10-inch wheels.
Yamaha has thankfully given the Ray a front disc brake of 130mm dia plus ofcourse an electric start as standard. The 5-litre fuel tank will give it a range of around 200km. At Rs 46,000 (ex-Delhi), it is around 4k more than the Honda Dio. Will it be a hit? Watch this space for more soon…
