Renault has launched the Koleos, its second offering for India (after the Fluence) today at Rs 22.99 lakh, ex-showroom, India. The Koleos enters the premium SUV space and is the latest facelift version that was launched worldwide a few months back. It is currently sold in five continents and in markets like Europe, South America etc.
The Koleos has a classy front end styling with in-your-face looks. It is built on a 4×4 platform and has proper SUV dynamics. It comes powered by a 2.0-litre dci motor that puts out an impressive 150PS of power along with 320Nm of torque. It will be sold with a 4×4 transmission with a six speed automatic gearbox with provision for manual changes. In addition it comes with features like Hill Assist, Hill Descent Control – these are activated on gradients of over 10 percent. The engine has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 13.7kmpl with a claimed top speed of 180km/h along with a 0-100km/h acceleration of 12.3 seconds.
On the gadgets front, the Renault Koleos gets parking sensors, hands free entry & ignition and a top of the line Bose sound system – this is a first in its segment, cruise control system, Bluetooth connectivity for the system etc. On the safety front, it comes with six airbags, ABS, ESC etc. Manufactured at its facility on the outskirts of Chennai, Renault is giving a 4 years / 80,000km warranty on the Koleos. The Koleos will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Outlander etc.
