Oshiro Two wheelers of Japan coming to India in 2013
Oshiro, a Japanese bike maker plans to enter the Indian commuter bike segment by the end of this year. Their initial product portfolio is to include 125 and 150 cc motorcycles. Also on cards are 100 cc models to take on the big players. Honda recently announced their plans of expansion in to the 100 cc mass-market segment. Will a little-known Japanese bike maker survive the Honda onslaught? We don’t know. That said, Oshiro has already commenced construction of their assembly unit at Satara, Maharashtra.
The company is also looking at the growing scooter segment. 125 cc and 150 cc scooters could also roll out of the factory by mid-2013. With the assembly facility already under construction, Oshiro officials are now busy scouting for dealers. Dealerships would come up in most major cities to start with followed by a targeted market penetration. We could be looking at a very competitively priced scooters and motorcycles when launched. Meanwhile, the bike maker has already launched their official website, although it is more of a work-in-progress.
