Next-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class to get LCD instrument cluster
Mercedes-Benz is currently busy readying the all new S-Class limousine. The updated model of the flagship sedan is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2013. The S-Class has always been a peek into the future of automobiles. The car is still the best selling limousine in its class and with the new model just around the corner we can expect sales to spike further. Having said that, the new S-Class will feature a host of LCD displays along with the usual luxury bits.
A test mule of the car was recently spotted revealing a bit of the dashboard. The LCD instrument cluster on the car can be easy seen in the picture. Also, the car’s exterior could be based on the F800 concept. The new S-Class design will be dictated by Mercedes’ present design philosophy which uses a more vertical grille and a sculpted body. Folks at Mercedes-Benz are also planning a uber-luxury version of the limo called the Pullman which will replace the Maybach. The sales of the Maybach brand have seen a dip in the recent past and hence the company finally decided to kill the car.
The Pullman will be specifically designed for growing markets like China where demand for long-wheelbase models is high. A seperate LWB version of the standard S-Class will also be available. The car maker also plans a convertible and coupe model based on the S-Class. Finally, a stiffer, hotter version with an AMG powerplant will also hit the market.
