Ford’s new 6-speed dual clutch automatic on the Fiesta – the details

A true driver’s car, the Ford Fiesta has impressed us numerous times. It looks fantastic, drives very well and is loaded with features and goodies and now Ford is looking at completing the package with the launch of the new first in segment 6-speed automatic gearbox. This is a newly develoed DCT or dual clutch powershift gearbox which gives you best of both the worlds – economy and performance. Ford says both these essential things are not compromised!
The launch is due for Jan or Feb 2012 and we recently drove the car in and around Goa. Yes, we were impressed with the way the system works and icing on the cake comes in the form of the maintenance free (for life) transmission! As for the pricing, we feel that this hi-tech ‘box will bump up the price by a lakh which means the Titanium + Automatic will have sticker price of around Rs 10.50 lakh.
