After securing a moderate result in yesterday’s Indian Grand Prix, with Fernando Alonso securing the third position on the podium and Filipe Massa crashing out as a result of a collision with Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari launched the new FF or Ferrari Four at their premier showroom in New Delhi today. The quiet launch with just a few media persons bore a symbolic resemblance to the exclusivity of the brand.
The only car from Ferrari which can accommodate four persons has a powerful 6.3 liter V12 engine which generates enormous power of 660 PS at 8000 RPM and 683 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM which results in a quick acceleration of 0-100 Km per hour in blinking 3.7 seconds.
The FF which joins the existing class of the Italian thoroughbreds in India completes the entire range of cars that Ferrari had originally planned to bring to India. The car is hugely popular worldwide with 800 units sold so far and 1000 more booked already. The wait time for the car is expected to be close to 12 months. “We will work closely with Ferrari to see if that period can be shortened whenever we get an order, but as of now, we have just launched the car. We will be assessing customer response first, said Ashish Chordia, Chairman of Sheyans Group, who are the sole distributer of the Ferrari cars in India.
In India, Ferrari has competition from Porche and Lamborghini. The newly launched Ferrari FF is challenged by Porsche Panamera and Maserati Quattroporte, both of which are four door sports cars. The FF is priced at Rs. 3.42 Cr (ex showroom Delhi) without any customizations and optional extras.
Since the launch of their first showroom, Ferrari has received 20 bookings from India. Worldwide, they plan to sell 7000 cars next year, said Ferrari CEO, Mr. Amedeo Felisa.
Ferrari also plans to conduct owner training programmes and a challenger series for its customers at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
