BMW opens the booking for 1-series, launch on 3rd September
After Mercedes-Benz, it is now BMW’s turn to enter the premium small car space in India. The Mercedes-Benz launched the A-Class in India few months ago and received a magnanimous response for the car. BMW started the campaign about its own premium small car the; 1-series.
The 1-Series will arrive in both petrol and diesel engine options. BMW will fit 1.6 Liter petrol engine which will be turbocharged and will work to churn out a maximum power of 136 hp and 220 Nm of maximum torque and will come mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission with an ARAI of 16.28 km per liter.
The diesel version will carry the same engine used in X1 and 3-series. The diesel engine will be tuned to produce 143hp with 320 Nm of torque. The diesel 1-series would return a 20.58 km on per liter of fuel.
The 1-series will have a long equipments list like auto start/stop option and BMW iDrive multimedia system. BMW India will produce the 1-series locally and put a sticker price between Rs. 20-25 lakh to counter the price of Mercedes Benz A-Class. BMW has already started the pre-booking.
