To celebrate 10 , 000 happy customers of Furtuner in the first year of the launch , Toyota has launched a special Fortuner Anniversary Edition. Launched on August 24 , 2009 , the sports utility vehicle Fortuner has maintained close to 60% market share in its segment.

The Anniversary Edition of Fortuner , available in only Pearl White colour , has an enhanced sporty exterior. The SUV is priced at Rs. 20 , 45 , 000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The company will roll out only 250 units of this special edition. "Today , as we celebrate both the first anniversary and the milestone of selling 10 , 000 units , we are delighted to introduce the Anniversary Edition of the Fortuner which will be made available exclusively to our customers who have already made bookings with us , ” said Sandeep Singh , Deputy Managing Director-Marketing , Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

“We would like to thank our customers for making the Fortuner the market leader in its segment , since its launch. i would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank those customers who have waited patiently through the waiting periods because of the overwhelming response that we have received. It is our Endeavour to clear the present backlog , as well as meet growing customer requirement , " he added.

Maruti Suzuki has started to sell the LPG version of WagonR in its old model. This step was taken as the development of the LPG variant of the latest WagonR model is yet to be complete.

After launching the new WagonR , Maruti had discontinued the 'Duo' variant of the old WagonR , which had both petrol and LPG options. "We are now selling the 'Duo' and it will continue till the LPG variant of the new WagonR is ready. The work on new LPG is going on , " said Shashank Srivastava , Chief General Manager (Marketing) , Maruti Suzuki India. About the likely launch of the LPG version of the new WagonR , Shashank said , "The R&D team has just started the work and it is unlikely that the LPG variant will be ready in this fiscal."

Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to buy a majority stake in the public sector company Scooters India Ltd. The company is eying a growing scooter segment of the north India after buying the Lucknow based auto company.

According to a source in the Ministry of Heavy Industries , the attraction of Scooter India lies in the impending sharp reduction in labour force , as around 800 workers are expected to retire by 2012-13.

“The last time we invited bids for SIL in 1996 , companies were hesitant because of the labour unions. Now , with natural attrition , we believe labour is not an issue as most of the workers are about to retire and the private company can bring in its own workforce , ” said a source.

The luxury cars from the stable of Aston Martin may soon run on the Indian roads. The cars of the company , made famous by James Bond films , may be introduced in the country by the end of this year. The cars may be priced up to Rs. 3 crores.

The UK-based car maker Aston Martin has reportedly already tied up with Infinity Cars to open its first showroom in Mumbai. Infinity Cars may be appointed as the company's exclusive distributor for the Indian market. According to a source , Infinity will open the booking process for Aston Martin from next week. The cars are likely to be delivered in the next 5-6 months , said the source. Aston Martin may intitially offer four models - V8 Vantage , DB9 , Rapide and DBS in India.

The two-wheeler maker Yamaha has launched three new bikes in India. These include SZ , SZ-X and YBR125. Unveiled by Yamaha brand Ambassador John Abraham , the bikes are priced between Rs 47 , 000 and Rs 52 , 000 a unit. SZ and SZ-X are powered by a 153cc engine , while YBR125 is equipped with a 123cc engine.

"The launch of these three bikes are in line with Yamaha's true commitment to provide world class product to its customers. We are confident that these bikes will capture the imagination of the whole generation of bikers who are looking for something extra , " said Yukimine Tsuji , CEO and Managing Director , India Yamaha Motors.
