India's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki is looking at a possibility of establishing a third manufacturing unit at its Manesar facility. The company is faced with capacity constraints amid increasing demand. It is preparing a feasibility study for setting up the third unit , which could provide additional capacity of 2.5 lakh units. The unit may cost the company up to Rs 1 , 700 crores.

The Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki has an annual production capacity of three lakh units , while the Gurgaon plant produces seven lakh units per annum. According to Maruti's managing director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi , the Indian car market is likely to double to five million units by 2015 and the company needs to be prepared to meet the growing demand in order to maintain its leadership position.

Two-wheeler maker Suzuki India has launched its bike Slingshot 125cc motorcycle in India. The styling of the bike is inspired by Suzuki’s international line of high-performance motorcycles. It is equipped with a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder type.

Slingshot 125cc has a Suzuki Pulsed-secondary AIR-injection system to cut down on emissions. It also has sharp-looking alloys. Based on the platform of the old 125cc Heat/Zeus motorcycles , the bike will be available  in four colours. Slingshot 125cc is priced at Rs. 50 , 949 (on-road price , Mumbai) for Drum brake/Spoke wheels version while Drum/Alloy version will be sold at Rs. 52 , 998 (on-road , Mumbai).

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is going to hike prices of its cars in October this year. "Input cost pressure is very high and the yen fluctuation is also affecting us. We will review the prices of our products in October , " said Sandeep Singh , Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) , Toyota Kirloskar Motors.

Toyota has not given any indication about the exact amount of price rise. The company sells its sedan Corolla Altis , SUV Fortuner , Innova , sedan Camry and premium SUV Prado in India.

Car maker Honda Siel Cars India has launched a new version of its luxury compact car Jazz. The version named Jazz X is priced at Rs 7.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Honda has launched the new car with the hope of raising the sales volume of the car. The company was able to sell just 514 units in July , 2010 , compared to 1 , 037 units sold in the same month in 2009. Jazz X is equipped with new sporty exteriors , enhanced interiors and new features like alloy wheels. The car also has an audio system equipped with a USB port.

Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India has launched its new car E 200 CGI BlueEFFICIENCY in India. The car marks the debut of CGI technology in the E-Class range. The technology along with BlueEFFICIENCY measures makes for optimized efficiency and performance.
