The leading car maker Maruti Suzuki has launched a limited edition car Ritz Genus. The new car is loaded with additional features including a brand new signature colour `Emerald Blue.’ The car's smart graphics add to the distinct appeal of the car. The car is available in two versions - Ritz Genus Vxi (petrol) at Rs 4 , 52 , 349 (Ex-showroom New Delhi) , and Ritz Genus Vdi (diesel) at Rs 5 , 31 , 410 (Ex-showroom New Delhi).

Ritz Genus has its rear enhanced with a back door garnish and graceful “Genus” decal. The interiors have a dual tone dashboard with blue-gray shades. The car is equipped with radio and CD with speakers and tilt-adjustable steering. It also has keyless entry , rear wiper-cum-washer , and a rear parcel tray.

Tata Motors is planning to take help of engineers of its British subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover to improve quality and technology of its passenger cars. The company may use expertise in design , noise and vibration and other aspects to build a portfolio of more sophisticated cars.

“We know we need to improve our car operations in terms of fits , finishes , noise , vibration and design elements. That’s where Jaguar Land Rover can help us , ” said PM Telang , MD , Tata Motors India. “There are a lot of synergies with JLR — we can add value to their operations and they can add value to ours , ” he added. JLR engineers were invited to take a look at the Nano following complaints of the car catching fire recently.

The world's fourth largest tyre manufacturer Continental AG is looking at the opportunity to enter the growing Indian tyre market. "India is one of the key markets for our future growth. We are interested in the passenger car tyre market. We are looking for opportunities to enter the market , " said Helmut Matschi , Member of the Executive Board , Continental AG. "However , it is too early to say how it rolls out and when we will enter the market , " said Claude d'Gama Rose , Managing Director , Continental India.

According to Helmut , the Commercial Vehicle Tyre division of the company had revived its technical collaboration with Modi Tyres in 2009. After the agreement Modi Tyre will manufacture 1 million tyres to be sold under Continental brand name. As of now , the passenger car tyre market in India is growing by 35 to 40 per cent , while commercial vehicle market is growing by 50%.

Auto maker Hero Group has denied the speculations that Honda may exit India's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda. The Japanese auto major Honda holds 26% stake in the joint venture. Of late there were some media reports that Honda was planning to sell its 20% stake to the other promoter Munjal family of the Hero Group.

"We have already conveyed earlier that the Hero Group and Honda Motor Co , Japan , have for years enjoyed a very cordial and fruitful relation , resulting in millions of satisfied Hero Honda customers across the country and there has been no change in the relationship in any manner , " said a press statement from the Hero Group. "The news report is incorrect and speculative , " it added.

Car maker Ford is going to introduce 8 cars in India by 2015. “India is a key market for Ford and we have big plans for the country and this region. The company will introduce eight new vehicles in India from the global platform , in segments appropriate for this market , ” said Joe Hinrichs , President , Asia Pacific and Africa , Ford. Introduction of the new vehicles is a part of the company’s plan to bring more products from its global portfolio and other markets , he added.

Ford's new small car Figo has generated very positive response from the Indian small car market. The compact car has registered a sales of over 30 , 000 units within the first 25 weeks after the launch. “Although the vast majority of vehicles produced in India will help satisfy growing local demand , we also continue to pursue export opportunities. From next year we will start exporting 10 , 000 units of India made Figo , ” said Hinrichs.
