Mahindra presented ace Indian opener Gautam Gambhir all new Mahindra Bolero Stinger which made its debut on last autocar performance show is a customised version of Bolero. The customized concept features a lot many things over the regular Bolero. Starting with the looks , the Stinger is unlike anything else on the road. A well designed bodykit adds more presence to the SUV , while four large foglights and a massive air intake on the hood gives it the mean factor. There is also the uniquely stylized body cladding which gives the Stinger a wide stance.
Customized body paint along with special tail lamp bezel and rear roll cage lend the Mahindra Bolero Stinger a special look. Additional features include a premium MP3 player and a reverse camera with sensors. The Mahindra Bolero Stinger concept also offers custom fit colour co-ordinated interiors , customized floor carpeting and unique leather suede upholstery giving it an exclusive touch. Under the hood , the Stinger retains the 2.5 litre engine producing 97 PS and a prodigious 255 Nm of torque which gives the Stinger enough go to match its show.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor going to launch its sports utility vehicle (SUV) Fortuner in India by September.
The SUV Fortuner would be equipped with three-litre advanced Common-Rail Diesel engine and features fulltime four-wheel drive.The price is expected to be around Rs 20 lakh.
“The Fortuner is an important addition to our product line-up in India and we are currently in the process of finalising details for the launch , ” said Mr Sandeep Singh , Deputy Managing Director , Marketing , Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
“We are still working out the price details of the Fortuner , taking into account variations in exchange rates , but expect it to be around Rs 20 lakh , ” he added.
The Fortuner will be brought to India as a knocked down unit and will be assembled at TKM’s plant in Bidadi.
Tata Motors is planning to launch sports utility vehicles (SUVs) Sumo and Safari in partnership with Fiat in Latin America by the end of this year.Fiat and Tata Motors already have a 50:50 joint venture in India , which was signed in October 2007. The JV will manufacture and market SUVs in Latin America.
Tata Motors passenger car business unit president Rajeev Dube said: “i can only confirm that something is on at the global level with Fiat.The Latin American market has a lot of potential for SUVs but it’s too early to reveal the exact plans.”
Tata Motors MD Ravi Kant had earlier announced plans to jointly develop some products with Fiat for some markets. The SUVs may be manufactured at Fiat’s existing facilities in Cordoba , Argentina.
Tata Motors has been exploring growth opportunities in Latin America and the company is also believed to be evaluating plans to launch cheapest car Nano in Latin America within four years. Latin America has emerged as an attractive destination for automobile and component manufacturers due to its healthy growth rate , similar norms for safety , emission and quality compared to India and less competition from big automobile brands.
Skoda going to launch all new small-sized SUV in the country in early 2010.The Skoda Yeti has been designed for both urban and leisure driving and has the capability of all wheel drive.
More a crossover than an SUV , the Yeti would be equipped with wraparound windscreen , coated windscreen side-pillars and the characteristic roof , Skoda's favourite.The car will bridge the gap in the Skoda lineup between the Fabia and the Octavia and the engine and transmission systems would be likely already seen on the Fabia and Octavia sold presently in India with all wheel drive capability expect a boost in both power and torque.
The Skoda Yeti would be priced just around Rs 10 lakh and likely to make its debut at Auto Expo in Delhi next January.
Mahindra and Mahindra going to increase the production of its high-end brand `Xylo' following the rising demand in the market.Last month M&M launched its Mahindra Xylo , a multi-purpose vehicle targeting high-end customers.
"For the Xylo , we have a waiting list of five weeks. We are now trying to lower that. We are already doing that (ramping up production) , " Mahindra and Mahindra's Vice Chairman and Managing Director , Anand Mahindra , said.
He also added that , "Our inventory with dealers is lower than what we targeted because we were apprehensive about where the market was going , ".
M&M who has been ruling the rural market for tractors more than a decade , said that the company have plans for this segment.
"We have more than 40 per cent market in rural India in the tractor segment. So we have to have plans for the rural market , " Mahindra said and also added that as per its data , there has been more than a 20 per cent CAGR growth rate in farmers' profit margins since 2006.
