Nigeria's auto industry faces complete collapse this year. The Nigerian car market is notoriously volatile , and is heavily influenced by
government-backed purchases.

Tata Motors , which is gearing up to launch its Indica Vista hatchback and Sumo Grande MUV in the African market , has now firmed up its plans to add Nano in its product lineup. Tata Motors has announced that they are working on plans to launch their Nano small car model in the Nigerian market next year. The company has however not revealed on whether the car would be manufactured in Nigeria or they would export it from India. Tata Motors would be pricing the model at NGN 357 , 480 (about Rs. 1.16 lakh).

Earlier in March , Tata Motors had showcased the European version of the Nano , which the company planned to launch by 2011. Tata Motors will only sell its Nano microcar in Europe if it achieves a high safety rating. The version for the European market will be more fuel efficient , better emission compliance and will be technologically superior. The company has said that the Tata Nano can be marketed in other countries , but timelines , modes and countries are yet to be finalised.
