Maruti Suzuki has decided to re-launch its high-end Grand Vitara SUV with a more influential 2400 cc engine. Adding , the re-launch is to create an impact in the sports utility vehicle (SUV) market.

 

Compared to the present model which is priced at Rs 14 lakh model , the price of the novel Grand Vitara , called GV 2.4 in India is higher. Further it will be moved against General Motors’ Captiva , Hyundai Tucson , Ford Endeavour , Mitsubishi Pajero and Outlander , plus the yet to be released Skoda Yeti and Toyota’s Fortuner.

 

The novel SUV will be released in the coming month , said a person familiar with developments at Maruti.

 

In the previous year the sales of third-generation 5-seater Grand Vitara was 795 units and it got decreased in this year to 270 units. In India , in each year more than 25 , 000 SUVs priced over Rs 10 lakh are getting traded.

 

The novel Grand Vitara will be having minor modifications in body design and interiors in addition to the bigger engine.

 

Moreover , with its Gypsy catering to the entry-level off-roader market in the domestic SUV segment , the largest car producer Maruti was became a key player in the market.
