Bajaj Auto to produce four-wheelers on Renault platform

Bajaj Auto is going to produce its four-wheelers based on the Renault platform. The company is planning to launch both passenger and commercial vehicles in 2012. The platform is currently under development.

“Our four-wheelers are due in 2012. It will be a new platform. But the project is a common one with Renault, and on a common platform. The basic structure of the vehicle — the engine, transmission, chassis — will be common,” said Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto.
