The German luxury car manufacturer, Audi has launched its compact luxury SUV in India – the Audi Q3. In January 2012, the Audi Q3 was unveiled at the Auto Expo and was one of the most eagerly awaited SUV’s to hit the Indian roads in the recent times.
Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India said, “The launch of the Audi Q3 is in line with our top-down strategy for India. The Q3 is immediately recognizable as the youngest member of the Audi Q family. Now we are starting the next chapter of our success story: As a true luxury SUV, the Audi Q3 leads the way for the Four Rings to enter a new segment in India, with ever increasing customer groups demanding for luxury mobility in a compact form. Every aspect of the Q3 showcases Audi technology – the body, the drivetrain, the chassis and the assistance and multimedia systems. Many of these elements come directly from the luxury class. At present, only 500 Audi Q3’s will be available for initial booking. We are confident that Audi Q3 will repeat the success of Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and further consolidate our leadership position in the luxury SUV segment“.
The brand is the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India with Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 and in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi R8 Spyder, Audi RS5 and the recently launched Audi TT Coupe.
Audi have sold 450 cars in May 2012, a growth of 10 percent over the same period last year which was around 408 cars. The brand with the four rings grew by 37 percent during January to May 2012, delivering 3281 vehicles as compared to 2394 vehicles delivered during the same period last year.
Audi India have also planned to expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of this year. The company have recently opened new showrooms in different parts of the country including Coimbatore, Delhi West Nagpur and its second in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal, and is also planning for further developments include Lucknow and Mumbai South among others.
Audi Q3 is equipped with a powerful and efficient 2.0 TDI quattro engine, and is priced at Rs 26,21,000 onwards (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the base grade and Rs 31,49,000 onwards (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) for the high grade, and will be available at all 19 Audi dealerships in India. Audi Q3 is the first SUV in its segment with a quattro driveterain. There are only 500 Q3′s available for the initial booking.
