Editorial Review of the Hero MotoCorp Glamour bike
Launched 9 years ago in the Indian two wheeler market in 2005, the Glamour motorcycle was a glamour result of a market feedback about consumers wanting a higher capacity bike with more power and torque without sacrificing on the fuel economy front. Infact, the engineers at Hero MotoCorp did a fabulous job with the engine and its rated fuel economy as per IDC norms stands at 81.1kmpl, more than some of the 100-110cc bikes out there!
The Glamour got a major design revamp in 2011 – the front end got a new look thanks to the new headlamp and visor. Infact, the bike now looks one of the better looking 125cc machines in the market. Size of the bike is another selling point – it does feel like a bike from the 150cc segment.
The Glamour also gets a dual color treatment, smart alloy wheels, a new exhaust muffler and a new semi digital speedometer console as well. The Glamour is sold in five colors and comes with 2.75” tyres on 18-inch wheels up front and 3.00” tyres on 18-inch wheels at the rear. The tyres are grippy and are a safe bet for riding under varying weather conditions prevalent in our country.
On the comfort front, the Glamour scores high. It gives you a big bike feel and the seat is well padded too. This makes sure that on a long and tiring commute your back does not take a beating. The suspension is well sorted and the Glamour rides over various kinds of terrains in a nice planted way. The engine displaces 124.7cc and puts out a respectable 9Bhp of power and 10.35Nm of torque.
While these aren’t really impressive for an engine of this size, the Glamour does its job of a city commuter pretty well. Ofcourse the engine has decent power which also feels punchier than the regular 100-110cc machines and at the same time, delivers exceptional fuel economy too. The fuel tank measures a healthy 13.6 litres, giving the Glamour a possible 1000km tank range if ridden with a light right wrist!
Updated for 2014- Hero MotoCorp has given further updated the design of the new Glamour in order to keep up with the competition. The 2014 Hero Glamour features some cosmetic updates which include a slightly modified visor which has made the newest facelift of the motorcycle indeed quite glamorous. The new 125 cc motorcycle also features a new analogue speedometer with digital display.
To provide the bike a refreshed look, Hero has revised the headlight and taillight of the new Glamour plus the renowned manufacturer has also introduced new colour options on the motorcycle. The new facelifted version sports trendy body graphics which makes the 2014 Glamour look different from its predecessor. It looks contemporary and this modern look goes very well with the motorcycle in today’s day and age.
