Editorial Test Drive Review of Volkswagen Polo
The new Polo is a very fine example of how to move forward and yet not lose yourself in the crowd. Four years after it’s launch in India, VW has given their only small car in the country a face-lift. The New Polo is a mild face-lift from it’s predecessor.
VW has upgraded the headlamps, grille, fog lamps and front bumper. The profile is the same as before and the rear gets new bumper and tail lamps.
The Polo now comes with a 1.2 litre petrol motor and 1.5 litre diesel. The 1.2 litre petrol motor pumps 75 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. It promises a fuel economy of 16.47 km/l. The 1.5 litre diesel engine is a brand new motor developed by VW. It has a peak power output of 90 PS and torque of 230 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and ARAI tested mileage is at 20.14 km/l.
The 2014 VW Polo comes with refreshed front fascia too. The dash board gets silver inserts and Voice Command. Voice Command is available on the top variant. There’s a new steering wheel and the boot space is at 294 litres.
The VW Polo petrol is one of the finest drives of it’s segment. The motor is peppy and the steering complements the car very well. Every little input to the steering is converted into output. The car is fun to drive and very nimble. It has very planted road manners and offers a comfortable ride.
Here's the video from the launch.
Pros: Immobilizer comes as standard
Cons: ABS not standard

Pros Fuel Efficiency,
Cons CongestedUncomfortable,Car's AC stopped working since first day
I was given a faulty car by the Company ( MH01BU 2681) this year. It has been 5 months. They have neither replaced my car not fixed the problem till date. My mails sent to top management below went unanswered. First mail below, more mails to follow. I will share their email-ids shortly Dear Mr. Kodumudi, Mr. Lespiaucq, I am writing this mail directly to you since I could not find any solution from the salestechnical team here in Mumbai. I am deeply harassed and exhausted at the quality of your product and the service delivery. I purchased a Volkswagen Polo (MH01BU 2681) this July from the Andheri showroom in Mumbai. The AC of the car stopped working from the first day itself. I took it to your service center (Sewri-Mumbai) who told me that the condenser was damaged. I left it at the service center to get the condenser changed. I kept on following with the service center but could not get any response from them. My car was lying in the service center for over 22 days. Then I was told that the compressor of the car is also damaged. One of your executives suggested that they can replace my compressor with that of a accident car!!! Finally they changed the compressor as well. While taking the car, the service executive quoted me a bill for 5,500. When I asked him for the split,it came to 4,200 only. And I have till date not received the correct bill for that. I took the car from your service center. When I checked the AC, it has stopped working again. In short, I have been running from pillar to post without getting a simple thing fixed. My key questions to you - 1. How can you give a defective car to your customer What is your company's policy on this Repairing it indefinitely is not a choice a customer would take 2. How can your service centers have such poor delivery quality I don't understand how they can quote an incorrect bill. I don't understand where does this extra money goes. To whose pockets 3. Even if you don't reply, where do I go. Germany Courts More mails to follow
