Toyota Etios Liva Review
Editorial Test Drive Review of Toyota Etios Liva
The Liva looks identical to its sedan sibling, the Etios, save for the absence of the boot. The Liva also has a 90mm shorter wheelbase but that’s about it. Look it from the front or front three quarters and you can easily mistake it for its sedan cousin. The Liva, like any other Toyota offering, has high levels of fit and finish – for example the paint, or the panel gaps. The new Etios Liva has a redesigned grille with chrome finish, rear combination lamps plus new indicators on side view mirrors. There is also a new colour called classic grey. The interiors of both the petrol and diesel versions are the same. Space is another plus point of the Liva and contrary to its small size on the outside, the car is very spacious on the inside. When it comes to changes there is a two tone look with a textured dashboard, soft fabric and ash brown colour. Features wise you get a new 2 Din audio with Bluetooth, USB, Aux- In and remote, driver seats comes with height adjust, combimeter with new blue illumination and new AC control panel with clean air filters. Toyota now sells the Liva in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol Liva is powered by Toyota’s 3NR-FE engine in a 1.2-litre configuration that has been tuned perfectly well for Indian driving conditions. This all new engine generates a decent 80PS of power along with an equally decent 104Nm of torque. It also has an ARAI certified fuel economy of 18.3kmpl which translates into around 13-14 kmpl in city world conditions. The diesel Liva comes with the same D-4D motor as found on the Altis though in the Liva. The maximum power is 68PS while the peak torque stands at 170Nm. It also has a fantastic ARAI rated fuel economy of 23.59kmpl which means you will easy get around 17-18kmpl in real world conditions. The Liva offers you one of the best combinations of ride and handling in the Indian hatchback segment today. To start with, visibility from the driver’s seat is terrific and the steering light to operate. The Liva, being light and small, is also very flickable in traffic and maneuvering this car is an easy affair. For typical Indian bad roads, which are full of washed away patches, potholes etc., the Liva will surprise you with the way it rides. Prices for the Etios Liva start at Rs 4.46 to Rs 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol to Rs 5.72-6.38 lakhs ex-showrrom New Delhi for the diesel. For a detailed analysis read below
