Maruti 800 is an affordable hatchback car which has a roomy interior cabin area which offers comfortable seating for all of its 5 passengers which the car will seat easily. It has a simple yet very functional dashboard while the instrument panel is set in a cockpit shape. It comes with features such as air conditioning and heater, optional music system, mobile charging outlet, adjustable head rests. There are also storage areas for keeping small items in the car.
Boot space in models of Maruti 800 is 210 litres. The boot space is just sufficient to carry the necessary baggages while travel.
There is a large dial type speedometer at the centre in all the models of Maruti 800. The speedometer is of analog type.
The gear lever is of sturdy plastic and is not very smooth. The cost cutting is evident. The quality of gear lever is same in all models of Maruti 800.
There are no cup holders provided in either of the models of Maruti 800 as it is a budget hatch and lack in these features.
Maruti 800 has basic exteriors which are still appealing to the masses mainly because of the car that has creeped into everyone mind over the last two generation. Traditional small headlamps and neat looking honey-comb grille adorn the front end of the car. It’s a small hatchback that is well built and exterior fit and finish is a bit old and needs to improve though. Maruti over the years have made small changes to this icon and it looks its best now. Maruti 800 has the typical appearance of a hatchback car with a big front and big rear glass.

The earlier models of Maruti 800 had more edgy rear. Newer models have a more lifted and smooth and curvy with smooth edged tail lights in them
Rectangular headlamps are used in all models of Maruti 800. The illumination is not too good, but still it serves the purpose.
Maruti 800 has a ground clearance of 170mm in all its models. The ground space is a decent one and offer good driveability in village roads.
The 800 has three cylinder 796cc petrol engine which produces a maximum 37 BHP at 5000 RPM and maximum torque of 59 NM at as low as 2500 RPM. It is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and offers excellent drivability. The car is a breeze to drive in the city and manages to do well at triple digit speeds. The engine has been tuned well and the refinement levels are very good this car.

4-speed manual gearbox gave a better handling along with Macpherson suspension.
The Maruti 800 comes with front Disc and rear Drum brakes. The braking performance is good and ensures safety of the occupants.
There was no such mechanized safety features included in the Maruti 800. Just the power and torque offered by the engine could give a comfortable and safe ride. No central locking system was there.
ABS is not available in any of the models of Maruti 800.

Maruti has finely tuned its suspension to absorb all the bad roads and provide a decent driving experience to its passengers. It has decent ride quality which cushions the bumps well though it is a tad bouncy. The noise and vibration levels are well controlled in this car and it’s easy to flick around in city driving conditions and provides adequate highway stability.
