Maruti 800 which is the iconic little hatchback that was launched by Maruti Suzuki in 1983 and it has since sold more than 2.5 million cars till date. It was the best selling car until Maruti Alto overtook it in 2006. Maruti 800 is a household name in India. This small hatchback became famous for its low price, high reliability and low cost of maintenance and running. It was a major hit amongst families looking forward to buying their first car.Maruti has done an excellent job over the decades with its Maruti 800 hatchback. This little car is a household name now and has been the pride and joy of multiple Indian generations. Exterior wise you get traditional small headlamps and neat looking honey-comb grille adorn the front end of the car.
It’s a small hatchback that is well built and exterior fit and finish is a bit old and needs to improve though. Maruti over the years have made small changes to this icon and it looks its best now. Maruti 800 has the typical appearance of a hatchback car with a big front and big rear glass. The interior has seating for all of its 5 passengers which the car will seat easily. It has a simple yet very functional dashboard while the instrument panel is set in a cockpit shape. It comes with features such as air conditioning and heater, optional music system, mobile charging outlet, adjustable head rests. There are also storage areas for keeping small items in the car.The 800 has three cylinder 796cc petrol engine which produces a maximum 37 BHP at 5000 RPM and maximum torque of 59 NM at as low as 2500 RPM. It is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and offers excellent drivability.
The car is a breeze to drive in the city and manages to do well at triple digit speeds.
