The i10 has been one of the best selling models for Hyundai in the Indian car market but it sells in a segment that witnesses stiff competition from other manufacturers. This is a reason why the i10 sales have taken a hit in the past 2 years. In order to keep the brand alive and kicking, a major revamp was needed and cleverly, Hyundai won't be replacing the i10 any time soon. Instead, they named the new model "Grand i10" and have decided to sell it alongside the current i10.
As the name suggests, this new model is a grander version of the i10 in all parameters. It looks better, has grown up in size, offers more room on the inside and ofcourse adds a new engine in the line-up. This is the new 1.1-litre 3 cylinder diesel motor that promises to deliver best in class fuel economy. It might not offer class leading performance but surely shines when it comes to city usage. Ofcourse the 1.2 petrol motor stays and Hyundai has loaded the Grand i10 with a host of features to give the consumer a grander feel. The Grand i10 will challenge offerings like the Ford Figo on one end and the Maruti Swift on the other. It does come with its own plus points and with Hyundai's strong re-sale value and quality to back it up, the Grand will be a success in the Indian market!
