After the successful launch of the Force One SUV, the company is now testing the luxury minivan from Mercedes, the Viano for the Indian market. Our team member Kuleshwar managed to catch the van under test on the outskirts of Pune and from the pictures, it is quite evident that from the ouside, the Viano looks same as the one sold in the international market. This means that India will finally get a top of the line, high quality, good looking luxury van.
Dimension wise, the Viano is a huge vehicle and has top quality fit and finish. Infact, it might be a van but its design lines are quite good and the Viano will feel at home at 5-star porches as well as happening functions. On the inside, the Viano scores very high on the comfort and space front. If sources are to be believed, the Viano will come with high end features and luxury add-ons never before seen in this category of vehicles in the Indian market. The India Viano will come as a 8 seater version.
On the engine front, the Viano will use the same 2.2-litre diesel motor that is seen on the Force One SUV. This is Mercedes derived unit and will be mated to the same Mercedes derived transmission as well. Expect de-tuning of the vehicle as the Force Viano is more of a people mover vehicle.
